Description

Explore the creative possibilities of full-frame photography with the Z5 II mirrorless camera. It delivers beautiful image quality, film-inspired looks, smart auto modes, and simple sharing. Advanced features inherited from Nikon’s professional Z series—such as multi subject-recognition autofocus, high-speed shooting, and 4K video—are combined with familiar Nikon ergonomics to make the camera powerful, yet easy to use.

Designed for Your Next Big Idea

The Z5 II is a full-frame upgrade that gives you room to grow. It brings professional-level stills and video features into a compact body that feels natural in the hand and is straightforward to operate.

Full Frame, Full Potential

Moving to full-frame with the Z5 II gives you more detail, more depth, and more flexibility in your images. The large Z mount and full-frame in-body image stabilisation (IBIS) sensor give you excellent handheld performance in almost any light and with many different lenses. Nikon’s latest image-processing engine increases speed and responsiveness across the camera, enhancing everything from autofocus to burst shooting.

Confident Shooting with a Versatile All-Rounder

The Z5 II is built to deliver reliable, sharp results. Intelligent autofocus taken from flagship Z cameras, powerful Vibration Reduction, and very high light sensitivity work together to keep your shots crisp and well-focused in a wide range of conditions.

Autofocus Performance

Autofocus, Upgraded – Up to 68% Faster than Z5
The Z5 II’s autofocus system represents a major step forward for the Z5 line. Driven by the EXPEED 7 processor and with sensitivity down to –10 EV, autofocus is fast and accurate, even in very low light.¹

Advanced Subject Recognition and Tracking
The camera can recognize and track nine different types of subject, with advanced multi-subject detection and 3D tracking for excellent precision. A dedicated bird mode further improves tracking of birds in flight or at rest.

High-Speed Continuous Shooting

Ready for Action
For fast or unpredictable subjects, the Z5 II supports burst shooting up to 30 frames per second. With Pre-release Capture, it can even save frames from just before you fully press the shutter, helping you capture peak moments that might otherwise be missed.²

Adapts to Motion Automatically
Using AF-A mode, the camera will switch intelligently between AF-S (single) and AF-C (continuous) focus as needed. If it detects movement in the scene, it adjusts the focus mode automatically, so you don’t have to change it yourself.

Viewfinder, Handling, and Operation

The Z5 II is bright, responsive, and intuitive to use, whether you are stepping up from the Z5 or entering the Nikon Z system for the first time. Its ergonomics and controls are designed to make shooting comfortable and satisfying.

Full-Frame Creative Control

You can go bold, subtle, cinematic, or anything in between. The Z5 II includes an extensive set of photo and video tools that are powerful but still easy to understand and apply.

Imaging Recipes from Nikon Imaging Cloud

Expand your creative toolkit with color presets and “Imaging Recipes” downloaded directly from Nikon Imaging Cloud into your Z5 II. These Cloud Picture Controls give you inspiring looks and styles ready to use in-camera.

Cinematic Video Capabilities

Flexible 4K and Full HD Options
The Z5 II delivers rich color, precise autofocus, and multiple frame-rate choices. Capture detailed footage in 4K/30p or 4K/60p (cropped), or record ultra-smooth Full HD at up to 120p for slow motion.

N-RAW Direct to SD Card

The Z5 II is the first Z-series camera that lets you record N-RAW video directly to an SD memory card. There is no need for an external recorder or very expensive media; you can keep your RAW workflow compact and efficient.

N-Log for Color Grading

If you plan to color-grade your footage, you can record in N-Log. Its wide dynamic range preserves more detail in both shadows and highlights, giving you greater flexibility and control in post-production.

Hi-Res Zoom

Hi-res zoom can digitally extend the reach of your lens up to 2× when recording Full HD video, with no visible loss in image quality. It works with both fixed focal length (prime) and zoom lenses, allowing you to adjust framing smoothly during recording.

Additional Notes

  1. AF sensitivity rating is measured in Photo mode with AF-S, center focus point, ISO 100, and an f/1.2 lens at 20 °C / 68 °F.

  2. High-Speed Frame Capture+ at up to 30 fps (C30) records JPEG images only, fixed to JPEG Normal. Rolling shutter distortion may occur with certain subjects or motion.

  3. Up to 7.5 stops of VR compensation at the center and 6.0 stops at the periphery (CIPA 2024 Standard) when using the NIKKOR Z 24–120mm f/4 S at the telephoto end in NORMAL mode.

  4. Focus Point VR is available in stills mode when using a NIKKOR Z lens without built-in VR, and is not active when multiple focus points are shown.

  5. Nikon Imaging Cloud offers unlimited photo storage for up to 30 days at no charge.

  6. Automatic firmware updates from Nikon Imaging Cloud require automatic update to be turned on and the camera to be powered off, connected to Wi-Fi, and in USB power delivery mode.
