Description
Explore the world of full-frame photography with the Nikon Z5 II mirrorless camera. It delivers beautiful image quality, film-style looks, intelligent auto modes, and straightforward sharing. Features derived from Nikon’s professional Z series—such as advanced subject-recognition autofocus, high-speed continuous shooting, and 4K video—are combined with familiar Nikon ergonomics for a camera that is powerful yet easy to use.
Creativity and Full-Frame Freedom
The Z5 II is a natural upgrade into the full-frame world. You gain more detail, more depth, and more room to compose, thanks to its large FX-format sensor and wide Z mount. The full-frame IBIS (in-body image stabilisation) system opens up impressive handheld possibilities in almost any lighting condition, and with a wide range of lenses. Nikon’s most powerful image-processing engine in this lineup boosts overall performance, improving speed, responsiveness, and fluidity in both stills and video.
Confident, Versatile Shooting
The Z5 II is built as a sharp all-rounder. Intelligent autofocus technology inherited from flagship Z cameras, strong in-body Vibration Reduction, and very high light sensitivity work together to help you capture well-focused, full-frame images in demanding situations.
Autofocus – Faster, Smarter, More Reliable
-
Autofocus speed and sensitivity
The AF system represents a major step forward compared to the original Z5. Powered by the EXPEED 7 processor and with sensitivity down to –10 EV in photo mode, autofocus is fast and precise—even in very low light.¹ -
Advanced subject recognition and tracking
The camera offers multi-subject recognition with 3D tracking for very accurate focus. It can detect nine distinct subject types, and it also includes a dedicated bird mode to help keep fast, erratic subjects sharp. -
High-speed bursts and Pre-release Capture
For fast or unpredictable action, the Z5 II supports burst shooting at up to 30 frames per second. With Pre-release Capture, the camera can buffer images before you fully press the shutter, allowing you to catch peak moments even if they happen just before you react.² -
Automatic focus mode switching (AF-A)
When shooting in AF-A mode, the camera automatically switches between AF-S (single-servo) and AF-C (continuous-servo) based on subject movement. If it detects even subtle motion, it adapts focus mode so you don’t need to change it manually.
Viewing and Handling
The Z5 II offers bright, responsive viewing and intuitive operation. Whether you are upgrading from the Z5 or entering the Z system for the first time, it is designed to be a very satisfying full-frame camera to shoot with.
Full-Frame Features for Still and Video Creativity
The camera’s control layout and menus make its powerful still and video tools easy to access and apply. Whether you aim for bold, cinematic looks or subtle, natural rendering, the Z5 II can handle a wide range of creative styles.
Imaging Recipes and Nikon Imaging Cloud
You can expand your creative palette with “Imaging Recipes” and colour presets supplied through Nikon Imaging Cloud. These custom Picture Controls can be imported directly into your Z5 II, giving you new, ready-to-use looks for both stills and video.
Video Capabilities
-
Flexible 4K and Full HD options
The Z5 II records vibrant, detailed video with accurate autofocus and multiple frame-rate choices. Capture maximum detail in 4K/30p or step up to 4K/60p (with a crop). For ultra-smooth slow motion, shoot in Full HD at 120p. -
N-RAW directly to SD card
The Z5 II is the first Nikon Z camera that can record N-RAW footage straight to an SD card. This removes the need for an external recorder or the most expensive media, while still enabling a powerful RAW video workflow. -
N-Log for color grading
When you plan to color-grade in post-production, you can record in N-Log. Its high dynamic range preserves more detail in shadows and highlights, giving you more flexibility when editing. -
Hi-Res Zoom in video
Hi-Res Zoom allows you to digitally extend the reach of your lens by up to 2× when recording Full HD video, with no noticeable loss in image quality. It works with both prime and zoom lenses and can be used to reframe smoothly during recording.
Additional Notes
-
AF sensitivity of –10 EV is measured in Photo mode with AF-S, center focus point, ISO 100 equivalent, at 20 °C with an f/1.2 lens.
-
High-Speed Frame Capture+ up to 30 fps in C30 mode records JPEG only, locked to JPEG Normal. The electronic shutter may cause rolling-shutter distortion depending on the subject and movement.
-
Vibration Reduction performance up to 7.5 stops in the center and 6.0 stops at the edges (CIPA 2024 standard) when using the NIKKOR Z 24–120mm f/4 S at the telephoto end in NORMAL VR mode.
-
Focus Point VR is available only in stills mode when using a NIKKOR Z lens without built-in VR and is not active when multiple focus points are displayed.
-
Unlimited storage for photos on Nikon Imaging Cloud is available free of charge for up to 30 days.
-
For automatic firmware updates via Nikon Imaging Cloud, automatic update must be enabled, and the camera must be switched off, connected to Wi-Fi, and in USB power-delivery mode.
