Description
Step into full-frame photography with the Z5 II mirrorless camera. It boosts your creative options with advanced still and video features inherited from Nikon’s professional Z series models, while familiar Nikon handling makes it very easy to use.
Unlock Your Next Idea
The Z5 II is a full-frame upgrade that lets your creativity grow. You get powerful tools for both photos and video, combined with straightforward operation so you can focus on shooting rather than settings.
Full Frame, Full Potential
Moving to the full-frame Z5 II gives you more detail, greater depth, and more room in every frame. The large Z mount and full-frame IBIS (in-body image stabilization) sensor open up excellent handheld shooting possibilities in almost any light and with a wide range of lenses. Nikon’s advanced image-processing engine further improves speed and responsiveness in all aspects of shooting.
Confident Shooting with a Versatile All-Rounder
The Z5 II is designed to deliver sharp, dependable results. Intelligent autofocus functions derived from flagship Z cameras, strong Vibration Reduction, and very high light sensitivity work together to keep your full-frame images crisp and well focused.
Autofocus Performance – Faster and Smarter
-
Autofocus upgrade (up to 68% faster than Z5)
The AF system represents a significant improvement over the original Z5. Powered by EXPEED 7 and with sensitivity down to –10 EV, it focuses quickly and accurately even in very low light.¹ -
Advanced subject tracking
The camera offers multi-subject recognition with 3D tracking for high-precision focus. It can identify nine distinct subject types, and it also features a dedicated bird mode for more reliable focus on birds in flight or at rest. -
Keeps up with action
For fast or unpredictable subjects, burst speeds of up to 30 fps and Pre-release Capture help you catch the peak moment—even if it happens just before you fully press the shutter.² -
Adapts automatically (AF-A mode)
When using AF-A, the camera automatically switches between AF-S and AF-C based on what is happening in the frame. If it detects movement, it shifts to continuous focus, so you don’t have to change modes manually.
Viewing and Handling
Bright, flexible, and responsive, the Z5 II is a rewarding full-frame camera to use whether you are upgrading from the Z5 or entering the Nikon Z mirrorless system for the first time.
Full-Frame Creativity
The Z5 II gives you a wide range of easy-to-use photo and video options. Whether you want bold, cinematic looks or subtle, natural rendering, you have the tools to experiment and refine your style.
Imaging Recipes and Nikon Imaging Cloud
Broaden your creative options with inspirational color presets and Imaging Recipes delivered from Nikon Imaging Cloud directly to your Z5 II. These Picture Controls can be applied in-camera to give your work a distinctive look.
Video Features
-
Versatile and cinematic
The Z5 II offers vibrant color, precise autofocus, and a variety of frame rates. Record detailed footage in 4K/30p or step up to 4K/60p (with a crop). For ultra-smooth slow motion, shoot in Full HD at 120p. -
N-RAW recording to SD card
The Z5 II is the first Z-series camera to support N-RAW recording directly onto an SD card. You can work in RAW video without needing an external recorder or the most expensive media. -
N-Log for grading
If you plan to color-grade, you can capture video in N-Log. Its wide dynamic range preserves more highlight and shadow detail, giving you extra flexibility in post-production. -
Hi-Res Zoom
Hi-Res Zoom lets you effectively double the reach of your lens (up to 2×) when recording Full HD video, with no visible loss of image quality. It works with both prime and zoom lenses and allows smooth reframing while filming.
Additional Information
-
AF sensitivity is measured in Photo mode, using AF-S with the center focus point, at ISO 100 and 20 °C / 68 °F with an f/1.2 lens.
-
High-speed shooting up to 30 fps in [C30] High-Speed Frame Capture+. JPEG only, fixed to JPEG Normal. Electronic shutter may introduce rolling-shutter distortion depending on subject and movement.
-
Up to 7.5 stops of VR at the center and 6.0 stops at the edges, based on CIPA 2024 standards, with the NIKKOR Z 24–120mm f/4 S at the telephoto end in NORMAL mode.
-
Focus Point VR is available in Photo mode with a NIKKOR Z lens that has no built-in VR; it does not function when multiple focus points are shown.
-
Nikon Imaging Cloud offers unlimited free photo storage for up to 30 days.
-
For automatic firmware updates via Nikon Imaging Cloud, automatic update must be enabled, and the camera must be turned off, connected to Wi-Fi, and in USB power-delivery mode.
