Description

Assembled with aspiring filmmakers and content creators in mind, the Panasonic Lumix GH7 Mirrorless Camera with 12-60mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens kit pairs the video-focused GH7 Micro Four Thirds camera body with the versatile Lumix G Vario 12-60mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. zoom lens.

Panasonic Lumix GH7 Mirrorless Camera

The Lumix GH7 is designed to deliver major improvements in video production speed, image quality, and workflow efficiency. It features a 25.2MP BSI CMOS sensor and an upgraded Phase Detection Autofocus system with Real-time Recognition AF capable of identifying humans, animals, cars, motorcycles, trains, and airplanes. The camera supports internal Apple ProRes RAW recording and 32-bit float audio recording, eliminating the need to constantly adjust recording levels during shooting. It is compatible with Adobe cloud workflows, supports Real-time LUT, and offers Open Gate recording for flexible framing.

Main highlights include:

  • 25.5MP sensor with more than 13 stops of dynamic range boost for detailed, vibrant photos and videos

  • Internal Apple ProRes RAW recording and the world’s first 32-bit float audio recording in an interchangeable lens camera

  • Native compatibility with Adobe Frame.io Camera to Cloud

  • Open Gate recording for flexible reframing across multiple formats with maximum detail

  • Real-time LUT functionality to load and apply custom LUT files for unique color looks in both stills and video

Pro Features for Professional Content

The GH7 includes key upgrades that make images and footage clearer and brighter. The Phase Hybrid AF system continuously tracks subjects with high reliability, allowing the camera to lock and maintain focus quickly and precisely. The Dynamic Range Boost function ensures a wide dynamic range at all ISO levels, supporting richer highlight and shadow detail in demanding scenes.

Efficient Workflow

The GH7 is designed to simplify production workflows. Internal ProRes RAW HQ recording and 32-bit float audio recording can be handled entirely within the camera body, making it possible to create high-quality results with minimal extra equipment. This makes the camera ideal for compact setups and small crews.

World’s First 32-bit Float Recording

When paired with the optional DMW-XLR2 XLR adapter (sold separately), the Lumix GH7 enables 32-bit float audio recording. This format captures a very wide dynamic range of sound, from very quiet to very loud, reducing the risk of clipping and removing the need for constant manual level adjustment. It improves both sound quality and efficiency throughout the entire audio post-production process.

32-bit float recording is the first of its kind in an interchangeable-lens digital camera as of June 5th, 2024, according to Panasonic research.

ProRes RAW HQ Internal Recording

The GH7 can record 5.7K 30p ProRes RAW HQ footage internally, straight to compatible media, without the need for external recorders. This allows you to capture high-quality RAW video with a simple, standalone setup. Enhanced gimbal compatibility further increases creative flexibility.

ProRes RAW recording is not supported on SD cards and requires appropriate media such as CFexpress.

ARRI LogC3 Recording

With the optional DMW-SFU3A software upgrade key, the GH7 can record using ARRI LogC3, making it easier to match footage with ARRI digital cinema cameras. ARRI has certified the implementation of the LogC3 curve in the Lumix GH7. This option joins the existing V-Log profile, expanding the camera’s Log recording capabilities and improving compatibility with high-end cinema workflows.

ARRI LogC3 is a Log gamma curve created by ARRI and used in ARRI digital cinema cameras. ALEXA 35 uses ARRI LogC4. On the Lumix GH7, ARRI LogC3 is available for 10-bit recording in Creative Video mode.

Outstanding Reliability

The GH7 is built to record for long periods without being stopped by overheating. Its compact body and efficient heat dissipation design support extended recording durations even at heavy loads, including 4:2:2 10-bit C4K/4K 60p/50p and ProRes RAW HQ.

Phase Hybrid AF

Autofocus reliability is critical in professional work. In addition to contrast AF, the Lumix GH7 uses a Phase Detection AF system, significantly improving subject tracking performance and metering accuracy. The camera can keep track of subjects even in complex scenes with multiple moving elements, and it maintains strong performance in backlit and low-light conditions.

Real-time Recognition AF

The advanced detection AF system is particularly effective for sports, wildlife, and vehicle photography. The GH7 can recognize a wide range of subjects and target areas, including:

  • Human and animal eyes and faces

  • Heads and bodies

  • Vehicle fronts

  • Helmets on drivers and motorcyclists

  • The first car of a train

  • The nose of an airplane

This intelligent recognition helps maintain accurate focus on the most important parts of the scene.

Richer Tonal Expression with Dynamic Range Boost

Dynamic Range Boost captures two different exposure signals in a single shot and combines them in real time to create a composite image with an expanded tonal range, even in scenes with significant brightness contrast. For still images, it produces RAW files with richer shadow detail. For video, it enables V-Log/V-Gamut recording with more than 13 stops of dynamic range.

Real-time LUT

You can apply LUTs directly onto photos and videos in-camera, creating finished looks without heavy post-production. The GH7 supports “.VLT” and “.CUBE” LUT formats. By taking advantage of this feature, you can shorten the color-grading process. When used with the Lumix Lab app, you can easily create custom LUTs on your smartphone and transfer them to the camera.

Lumix Lab App

With its high-speed Wi-Fi connection, the GH7 pairs with a smartphone in just a few steps. Once connected, you can transfer footage, crop images, adjust brightness, and apply LUTs, enabling quick and simple edits that are ready for social media or client previews.

Native Camera-to-Cloud with Adobe Frame.io

Thanks to built-in support for Frame.io Camera to Cloud, photos and videos taken on the GH7 can be automatically uploaded, backed up, shared, and collaboratively reviewed via the cloud, helping teams move faster from capture to delivery.

Live Streaming

You can choose the streaming method that suits your production:

  • For outdoor or mobile use, wireless RTMP/RTMPS streaming can be set up easily using the Lumix Sync app.

  • For indoor or studio environments, wired RTP/RTSP streaming provides a more stable connection.

Unlimited Video Recording Time

The GH7 supports internal 4:2:2 10-bit C4K/4K 60p/50p recording with no set time limit when operated within the recommended temperature range of -10°F to 104°F (-10°C to 40°C). It is especially well suited for small production teams and demanding situations where mobility and high quality are both required. The camera also supports simultaneous internal recording and external recording via HDMI output.

A CFexpress card or an SD card with Video Speed Class 90 (V90) is required for some recording modes.

Panasonic Lumix G Vario 12-60mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens

Designed as a compact and flexible zoom for everyday and travel use, the Lumix G Vario 12-60mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. lens covers a 24–120mm equivalent focal length range on Micro Four Thirds cameras. This range spans wide-angle to short telephoto perspectives, making it suitable for landscapes, portraits, street photography, and general documentary work.

The optical design includes three aspherical elements and one extra-low dispersion element to reduce spherical and chromatic aberrations across the zoom range, resulting in sharper images with improved clarity and color accuracy. The built-in POWER Optical Image Stabilizer reduces the appearance of camera shake and also works with compatible Dual I.S. bodies for even stronger stabilization, especially useful in low light and handheld shooting.

A rounded seven-blade diaphragm produces smooth, pleasing bokeh, supporting shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques. The lens also features a splash- and dust-resistant construction, making it a reliable choice for photographers working outdoors in challenging weather and environments.
