The Omegon EQ Platform offers a solution for tracking your Dobsonian telescope.

While Dobsonian telescopes offer numerous benefits, precise tracking can be challenging, especially for beginners. Maneuvering the telescope to compensate for the Earth's rotation can be cumbersome and requires skill. By utilizing the EQ Platform with your Dobsonian telescope, the motor compensates for the Earth's rotation, allowing you to observe objects at high magnifications without them quickly drifting out of view. This feature also facilitates group observations, making stargazing sessions more enjoyable for friends and family.

Tracking and Alignment:

The EQ Platform tracks the telescope for one hour before manual resetting is required. The motor operates on a standard 9-volt battery. For polar alignment, rough northward alignment suffices, eliminating the need to set latitude. Different EQ Platform versions cater to different latitudes, ensuring compatibility across regions.

Selecting the Correct Variant:

To determine the suitable variant for your latitude, round your location to the nearest 5° and select the corresponding variant. Available variants cover latitudes of 52° to 57°, accommodating a wide range of European regions.

Compatibility:

The EQ Platform is compatible with most Dobsonian telescopes, supporting instruments weighing up to 30kg. The telescope base must have three feet, with a maximum distance of 45 cm between them. Nearly all Dobsonian telescopes up to 254 mm (10") aperture meet these criteria.

Important Note:

The EQ Platform is not compatible with push-to systems based on encoders, such as Omegon Push+ or Orion IntelliScope.
