Astronomik Filters CLS CCD XT Clip Canon EOS R XL (85331)

The Astronomik CLS-CCD Filter is designed for astrophotography in light-polluted skies, particularly for DSLR cameras modified for astronomical use. It enhances the contrast between deep-sky objects and the background by blocking artificial light sources such as sodium and mercury vapor lamps while allowing essential emission lines to pass. This filter is ideal for capturing nebulae, galaxies, and star clusters, offering high performance for both photography and observation with telescopes or lenses of aperture f/3 and above.

Description

The Astronomik CLS-CCD Filter is designed for astrophotography in light-polluted skies, particularly for DSLR cameras modified for astronomical use. It enhances the contrast between deep-sky objects and the background by blocking artificial light sources such as sodium and mercury vapor lamps while allowing essential emission lines to pass. This filter is ideal for capturing nebulae, galaxies, and star clusters, offering high performance for both photography and observation with telescopes or lenses of aperture f/3 and above.

Key Features
  • Enhanced Contrast: Optimized to block spurious light while transmitting useful wavelengths, ensuring minimal dimming of stars.
  • Wide Transmission Curve: Allows more light to pass compared to UHC filters, improving visibility of astronomical objects.
  • IR Blocking: Includes an IR-blocking layer, making it suitable for DSLR cameras and webcams without built-in IR filters.
  • Compatibility: Works well with DSLR-, CCD-, and black-and-white film photography, as well as telescopes or photo lenses.
Applications
  • Blocks emission lines from artificial light sources like streetlights and airglow.
  • Passes critical emission lines such as H-beta (486 nm), OIII (496 & 501 nm), and H-alpha (656 nm).
  • Suitable for astrophotography under urban or suburban skies with significant light pollution.

Specifications
  • Coating: Multi-layered optical system resistant to scratches, humidity, and aging.
  • Frame Type: Clip-filters designed for Canon EOS cameras.
  • Filter Thickness: 0.3 mm.
  • Transmission Efficiency:
    • 95% at H-beta (486 nm) and OIII (496 & 501 nm).
    • 97% at H-alpha (656 nm).
  • Build Type: Broadband filter optimized for anti-light pollution.
  • Visual Use: Not suitable for direct observation.
This filter's durable design ensures long-lasting performance in various conditions while delivering high-quality astrophotographic results. It is an excellent choice for photographers aiming to mitigate light pollution and capture detailed images of deep-sky objects.
