Astronomik Filters OIII 6nm CCD 2" (46797)
The OIII-CCD filter is ideal for imaging OIII nebulae from both light-polluted and dark observation sites. It significantly enhances the contrast between objects emitting at 501nm and the background, making faint structures more visible. With a narrow bandwidth of 6nm and a high transmission rate of 96%, the filter blocks all unwanted light from UV to IR, resulting in an exceptionally dark background.

Description
The OIII-CCD filter is ideal for imaging OIII nebulae from both light-polluted and dark observation sites. It significantly enhances the contrast between objects emitting at 501nm and the background, making faint structures more visible. With a narrow bandwidth of 6nm and a high transmission rate of 96%, the filter blocks all unwanted light from UV to IR, resulting in an exceptionally dark background. This makes it particularly effective for imaging faint objects in star-dense regions or under heavily light-polluted skies. Additionally, the filter is optimized for CCD and CMOS sensors with low dark current, ensuring excellent performance.
The filter is parfocal with other Astronomik filters, resistant to moisture and scratches, and does not age over time. It features an optically polished, striae-free substrate that is free of residual stresses. Thanks to MRF coating technology, it can be used on devices with apertures as fast as f/4. When combined with H-alpha-CCD and SII-CCD filters, it enables the creation of false-color emission line images (HSO) similar to those produced by the Hubble Space Telescope, even from heavily light-polluted locations.
For alternative applications, the 12nm line filters are better suited for DSLRs or CCD cameras with higher dark current. They are also advantageous if your camera has a built-in guiding chip, as they typically allow twice as many stars to appear in the image.
