Astronomik Filters OIII 6nm CCD 50mm (63222)

The OIII-CCD filter is a powerful tool for imaging OIII nebulae, suitable for use in both light-polluted urban environments and dark-sky observation sites. It dramatically enhances the contrast between objects emitting at the 501nm wavelength and the background, making faint structures more visible. With a narrow bandwidth of 6nm and a high transmission rate of 96%, it blocks all unwanted light from UV to IR, resulting in an exceptionally dark background.

Description

The OIII-CCD filter is a powerful tool for imaging OIII nebulae, suitable for use in both light-polluted urban environments and dark-sky observation sites. It dramatically enhances the contrast between objects emitting at the 501nm wavelength and the background, making faint structures more visible. With a narrow bandwidth of 6nm and a high transmission rate of 96%, it blocks all unwanted light from UV to IR, resulting in an exceptionally dark background. This makes it ideal for imaging faint objects in dense star fields or under heavy light pollution. The filter is optimized for CCD and CMOS sensors with very low dark current, ensuring superior performance.

This filter provides perfect blocking of unwanted light and is parfocal with all Astronomik filters. It is resistant to moisture, scratches, and aging, with an optically polished substrate that is striae-free and free of residual stresses. Thanks to MRF coating technology, it can be used on devices with apertures as fast as f/4. When combined with H-alpha-CCD and SII-CCD filters, it allows for the creation of false-color emission line images (HSO), similar to those captured by the Hubble Space Telescope, even in heavily light-polluted environments.

For alternative applications, the 12nm line filters are better suited for DSLRs or CCD cameras with higher dark current. These filters are also advantageous for cameras with built-in guiding chips, as they typically capture twice as many stars in an image compared to the 6nm filter.
