The OIII-CCD filter is an excellent choice for imaging OIII nebulae, whether observing from light-polluted sites or dark-sky locations. It dramatically enhances contrast by isolating objects emitting at 501nm, allowing faint structures to stand out prominently against a dark background. With a narrow bandwidth of 6nm and a high transmission rate of 96%, it effectively blocks all unwanted light from UV to IR, creating an exceptionally dark background. This makes it particularly suitable for imaging faint objects in dense star fields or under heavy light pollution.

Description

The OIII-CCD filter is an excellent choice for imaging OIII nebulae, whether observing from light-polluted sites or dark-sky locations. It dramatically enhances contrast by isolating objects emitting at 501nm, allowing faint structures to stand out prominently against a dark background. With a narrow bandwidth of 6nm and a high transmission rate of 96%, it effectively blocks all unwanted light from UV to IR, creating an exceptionally dark background. This makes it particularly suitable for imaging faint objects in dense star fields or under heavy light pollution. The filter is optimized for CCD and CMOS sensors with very low dark current, ensuring outstanding imaging performance.

This filter provides perfect blocking of unwanted light, is parfocal with all Astronomik filters, and is resistant to moisture, scratches, and aging. Its optically polished substrate is striae-free and free of residual stresses, ensuring high-quality results. Thanks to MRF coating technology, the filter can be used on devices with apertures as fast as f/4. When combined with H-alpha-CCD and SII-CCD filters, it enables the creation of false-color emission line images (HSO), similar to those captured by the Hubble Space Telescope, even in heavily light-polluted environments.

For alternative applications, the 12nm line filters are better suited for DSLRs or CCD cameras with higher dark current. These filters also work well with cameras that have built-in guiding chips, as they allow for capturing twice as many stars compared to the 6nm filter.
