The small "a" in the name stands for "astromodified," indicating that the camera has been adapted specifically for astrophotography. Normally, cameras are equipped with a filter that reduces the red spectral range to match human daytime color perception. However, this filter poses a problem for astronomy as it blocks the H-alpha line, which is crucial for capturing the glow of astronomical gas nebulae. In astromodified cameras, this filter is removed, enhancing red sensitivity and making them ideal for astrophotography.

The astromodified DSLR provides higher sensitivity in the H-alpha and SII ranges compared to its original version. This modification allows photographers to capture extensive gas nebulae in the sky while fully utilizing the large sensor of the DSLR.

Advantages of Astromodified DSLRs for Astrophotography:

• Ideal for extended nebulae: Large sensor and high sensitivity in the H-alpha range make it perfect for capturing wide-field images.

• Built-in computer: Eliminates the need for an external laptop or power supply, reducing cable clutter.

• Versatile applications: Compatible with various accessories and suitable for multiple uses.

• LiveView monitor: Simplifies focusing and framing during astrophotography sessions.

The astromodification process is carried out by AstroHobby in Italy, where the original Canon filter is replaced. Three types of astromodifications are available:

• Baader Astromodification: Uses the Baader Planetarium BCF filter, allowing wavelengths from 420-680 nm to reach the sensor, increasing H-alpha sensitivity by four times compared to an unmodified camera.

• Super UV/IR-Cut Astromodification: Similar to the Baader filter but with an extended spectral range (400-700 nm), capturing all visible light.

• Full Range Astromodification: Makes the camera sensitive to ultraviolet, visible, and infrared light (starting at 300 nm). This option is ideal for those seeking flexibility, as additional filters can be used for daylight photography, infrared imaging, or advanced astrophotography.

The astromodified camera includes all items typically provided by the manufacturer: camera body, battery, charger, USB cable, and manual.

Important Note: The original packaging of the cameras is opened during the modification process, and test photos are taken to ensure quality. As a result, the photo counter will no longer be at zero; however, these cameras are not used products unless explicitly indicated as such in our shop.
