iOptron Camera iCam 462C (74121)

The iCAM462C camera features a Sony IMX462 color sensor, making it an excellent choice for planetary imaging. With an imaging area of 1/2.8”, a pixel size of 2.9µm, and a resolution of 2.1MP (1944 x 1096), it delivers high sensitivity and exceptional image quality. The diagonal measurement of 6.5mm ensures compatibility with various optical setups. This camera is designed for precision, offering extremely low readout noise—testing shows values as low as 0.73e at a gain of 350 and approximately 0.7e at a gain of 400.

The iCAM462C includes advanced features such as DPS (Dead Pixel Suppression) technology to eliminate abnormal or dead pixels by analyzing dark frames, and HCG mode, which activates automatically when the gain is ≥80. HCG mode significantly reduces readout noise while maintaining high dynamic range at low gain settings. Its unique QE response peaks at 800-850nm, making it ideal for infrared imaging when paired with an IR850 or CH4 filter.

When connected via USB3.0, the camera achieves up to 136 FPS in RAW8 mode (10-bit ADC) during full-resolution preview. To maximize USB3.0 data speeds during image recording, it is recommended to use a high-quality solid-state drive. The ST-4 guiding port allows easy connection to a mount GUIDE port for autoguiding.
