Motic’s Epi-LED S is an intermediate LED fluorescence module designed specifically for the BA210E microscope. It features a 3W LED light source paired with a suitable filter combination, and is installed as an add-on between the microscope stand and the eyepiece tube. Switching between brightfield and fluorescence modes is easy and quick by simply moving the LED module back and forth. Changing the excitation wavelength is also straightforward—just exchange the compact illumination module.

Description

Motic’s Epi-LED S is an intermediate LED fluorescence module designed specifically for the BA210E microscope. It features a 3W LED light source paired with a suitable filter combination, and is installed as an add-on between the microscope stand and the eyepiece tube. Switching between brightfield and fluorescence modes is easy and quick by simply moving the LED module back and forth. Changing the excitation wavelength is also straightforward—just exchange the compact illumination module. The integrated IR sensor automatically turns off the fluorescence when the microscope is left unattended, making it especially safe for young users.

 

LED technology is increasingly replacing traditional mercury bulb systems in fluorescence microscopy, offering significant safety and practical benefits. LEDs eliminate the risks associated with mercury, such as heat generation, leakage, and disposal concerns, making them ideal for educational settings. Additional advantages include no warm-up period, no need for special alignment, and easy intensity adjustment to prevent sample bleaching. The initial investment for LED fluorescence is much lower than for mercury-based systems, and with a minimum LED lifetime of 20,000 hours, ongoing costs are significantly reduced.
