The Novoflex Castel-Micro is a precision stepping motor-controlled focusing rack designed for advanced applications in photography, measurement, and scientific research. This system is the ideal solution when traditional focusing methods or in-camera functions are no longer sufficient, especially in high-magnification macro photography. As magnification increases-typically from 2:1 up to 50:1-manual focusing becomes impractical, and standard focus bracketing features are no longer effective. The Castel-Micro addresses these challenges with a dedicated control unit and four distinct operating modes, making it possible to capture detailed focus stacks of subjects such as insects, minerals, and scientific specimens.

Key Features and Modes:

• Step and Picture Modes: Easily set either the step distance or the number of shots based on your magnification and aperture. The software automatically calculates the required number of images or step size, and allows for pauses between shots (useful for mirror lockup).

• Continuous Mode: Keeps the sliding block in constant motion for specialized applications, eliminating the need for acceleration and stopping. Best used with fast shutter speeds or flash.

• Bellows Mode: Designed for use with the optional CASTBAL-PRO bellows attachment, this mode allows for front or rear adjustment. It is perfect for macro work with tilt/shift lenses and specialty cameras, enabling integration of high-quality mechanical lenses into modern stacking workflows. The software mimics autofocus stacking, creating a series of images with varying focus points for later combination into a single image with extended depth of field.
