Description
The Omegon Pro veLOX 678 is a high-speed camera designed for planetary, lunar, and solar astrophotography. With the largest sensor and smallest pixels in the veLOX series, it is also an outstanding autoguider, offering high precision and ensuring you always have a suitable guide star in your field of view.
Professional planetary, lunar, and solar imaging:
This camera excels at capturing the shadows of Jupiter’s moons, separations in Saturn’s rings, detailed lunar mountain ranges, and impressive solar prominences. Achieving these results requires a very high frame rate to freeze atmospheric turbulence, a method known as "lucky imaging." The advanced electronics and high-speed USB 3.0 connection make this process simple. The included Omegon AstroPhotoCapture software features a Region-Of-Interest function, allowing you to increase frame rates by reading only the relevant part of the sensor that contains your target.
Deep-sky astrophotography:
The modern CMOS chip is highly sensitive, making it much easier to capture faint nebulae and galaxies. High quantum efficiency and low read noise reveal details that are invisible to the naked eye.
Autoguiding:
Thanks to the high sensitivity of the CMOS sensor, you can find a suitable guide star anywhere in the sky, even among fainter stars. Short exposure times and high guiding frequencies help correct even the smallest tracking errors. The camera is natively compatible with PHD2 and has a built-in ST4 guide port, making it an excellent choice for autoguiding.
Functional and lightweight design:
The sturdy anodized aluminum body is shaped like a 1.25" eyepiece, fitting any telescope without adding extra weight. The camera front is equipped with C- and CS-Mount threads, and with an adapter, a standard 1.25" filter thread. This allows you to attach small CCTV lenses or a wide range of astronomical filters directly.
Sensor protection and transmission:
A filter window protects the sensor chamber from dust and humidity. Color camera models include an infrared-blocking filter to ensure accurate color representation by removing unwanted IR wavelengths. Mono camera models feature an anti-reflection window that is transparent from ultraviolet to infrared, giving you full control over your transmission curve with your own filters, which is ideal for advanced imaging and photometric applications.
Compatibility:
Omegon Pro cameras are compatible with a wide range of astrophotography software via ASCOM and INDI interfaces. Native support is also available for programs such as PHD2 and N.I.N.A., with compatibility expanding regularly.
