Calibration is essential in astrophotography because it significantly improves your results by using special calibration frames such as flat, dark, and bias frames during image processing. Flat frames, in particular, are captured by pointing your telescope at a white surface and help correct vignetting and shadows caused by dust on the optics. GIOTTO is an intelligent flat field generator that makes it easy to capture these flat calibration frames, ensuring better image quality for your astrophotography.

When selecting a flat field generator, it is recommended to choose a model with an illuminated panel that is larger than your telescope’s optics. The external diameter of your telescope tube should be smaller than the maximum illuminated diameter of the flat field generator.

GIOTTO features a control panel on the bottom with a USB-C port for easy connection to your EAGLE or standard Windows computer. It also offers WiFi connectivity, allowing you to control it wirelessly using your smartphone or tablet with the included Virtual HandPad. GIOTTO runs directly on a 12V power source, so there is no need for a separate power unit, making it simple to power alongside your astrophotography equipment.
