Sony Camera A7a III Full Range (75030)
The Sony A7a III Full Range is an astromodified version of the Sony A7 III, specifically adapted for astrophotography. In standard cameras, a built-in filter blocks much of the red spectrum to match human color perception in daylight, but this also blocks the important H-alpha emission line, which is crucial for capturing astronomical gas nebulae. The astromodification removes this filter, making the camera highly sensitive to red wavelengths, including H-alpha and SII, and also expands sensitivity into the ultraviolet and infrared ranges starting at 300 nm.

Description
The Sony A7a III Full Range is an astromodified version of the Sony A7 III, specifically adapted for astrophotography. In standard cameras, a built-in filter blocks much of the red spectrum to match human color perception in daylight, but this also blocks the important H-alpha emission line, which is crucial for capturing astronomical gas nebulae. The astromodification removes this filter, making the camera highly sensitive to red wavelengths, including H-alpha and SII, and also expands sensitivity into the ultraviolet and infrared ranges starting at 300 nm. This modification allows astrophotographers to capture faint nebulae and other deep-sky objects that are difficult or impossible to photograph with an unmodified camera.
The Sony A7a III Full Range astromodified camera is an excellent choice for astrophotographers who want to capture the full spectrum of light from deep-sky objects, especially faint and extended nebulae, while maintaining all the versatility and advanced features of the original Sony A7 III.
Astromodification Benefits and Features
-
The Full Range astromodification makes the camera sensitive to ultraviolet, visible, and infrared light, providing maximum flexibility for astrophotography, infrared imaging, or standard daylight photography when used with additional filters.
-
This increased sensitivity is ideal for photographing extended nebulae, as the large full-frame sensor of the A7 III can capture wide and detailed views.
-
The camera is highly portable and convenient, with a built-in monitor and LiveView, eliminating the need for an external computer or power supply.
-
The astromodified camera retains all standard features and accessories, including the camera body, battery, charger, USB cable, and manual.
Types of Astromodification
-
Baader Astromodification: Uses a Baader BCF filter, allowing light from 420–680 nm to reach the sensor, resulting in about four times higher H-alpha sensitivity than an unmodified camera.
-
Super UV/IR-Cut Astromodification: Expands the transmission range to 400–700 nm, collecting all visible light.
-
Full Range Astromodification: Makes the camera sensitive to ultraviolet, visible, and infrared light starting at 300 nm, offering the greatest flexibility.
Important Notes
-
The astromodification is performed by specialists such as AstroHobby in Italy, who carefully remove or replace the original filter.
-
During modification, the original packaging is opened and the camera is tested, so the shutter count will not be zero. However, the camera is not used for regular photography and is sold as new unless otherwise stated.
