Description

The Starlight Xpress All-Sky Oculus 180 Mono is designed to provide complete sky monitoring, making it easy to keep track of weather, meteors, and fireballs. This camera is especially useful for remote observatories, offering a full 180° field of view from horizon to horizon with its fast f/2 fish-eye lens.

A Sony CCD sensor is used in this camera, known for its low dark noise and fast electronic shutter. The result is crisp, wide-angle images of the night sky.

The Starlight Xpress All-Sky Oculus 180 Mono is a robust and reliable choice for anyone needing continuous, wide-field monitoring of the night sky, with simple installation and high-quality imaging in all conditions.

Key Features

  • The camera is housed under a durable polycarbonate dome, making it weatherproof and suitable for outdoor use. The position of the camera under the highly polished dome is optimized to minimize distortions. An L-mounting plate with a 1/4 inch tripod mount is included, allowing for easy installation on a building, observatory, or tripod.

  • The camera is powered through a USB connection, which is standard for astronomy CCD cameras. It also has a 12V connector for the built-in heater, which helps prevent dew formation.

  • Included software allows you to capture a sequence of images and combine them into an AVI video, letting you review the night’s events in time-lapse.

  • Only grade 1 or better CCD chips are used, ensuring high image quality with no dead pixels or defective columns.
