This digital camera features a backlit color CMOS sensor known for low noise and high light sensitivity (462mV at 1/30s), resulting in bright, detailed images even under low-light conditions. It is suitable for both darkfield and brightfield microscopy with 4x, 10x, and 20x objectives. The MAGUS CDF70 is designed to capture fine detail, including when observing moving objects.

The camera delivers a maximum image resolution of 5440x3648 pixels at a frame rate of 20 frames per second. Lower resolutions are available for higher frame rates: 2736x1824 pixels at 48 fps and 1824x1216 pixels at 58 fps. These higher frame rates allow for smooth observation and presentation of moving samples, with no visible delay or interruption between frames.

Installation is possible in the microscope’s trinocular tube or in an eyepiece tube in place of the eyepiece. A C-mount adapter of the appropriate size is required for both installation options, with additional adapter rings needed for mounting in the eyepiece tube. Once installed, the camera connects to a computer via USB3.0, supporting fast data transfer speeds of up to 5Gbps.

To begin using the camera, install the included MAGUS View software and drivers on your computer. The software is necessary for all camera functions, including image display, photography, video recording, and editing. Calibration with a calibration slide (optional accessory) is needed for accurate measurements with each objective.
