Antlia Filters Quad Band Anti-Light Pollution 2'' (85445)

The Antlia Quad Band Anti-Light Pollution Filter is designed to suppress unwanted light and enhance astrophotography results for both color and monochrome cameras. This filter allows you to capture most deep sky objects, such as galaxies, reflection nebulae, emission nebulae, and star clusters, even in highly light-polluted areas ranging from Bortle 8 to Bortle 1 skies. Its spectral transmission covers the visible light region as well as the near-ultraviolet (NUV) and near-infrared (NIR) bands.

Description

The Antlia Quad Band Anti-Light Pollution Filter is designed to suppress unwanted light and enhance astrophotography results for both color and monochrome cameras. This filter allows you to capture most deep sky objects, such as galaxies, reflection nebulae, emission nebulae, and star clusters, even in highly light-polluted areas ranging from Bortle 8 to Bortle 1 skies. Its spectral transmission covers the visible light region as well as the near-ultraviolet (NUV) and near-infrared (NIR) bands.

The filter features a broad bandpass, making it suitable for use with fast optics, including those with focal ratios as low as f/2. It is optimized for modern cameras with high quantum efficiency in the near-infrared region, which is less affected by artificial light pollution. The Antlia Quad Band Filter includes high transmission in the NIR band, improving image signal-to-noise ratio and contrast while maintaining good color balance and making post-processing more manageable.

Deep sky objects that emit strongly in the NIR, such as M51 and M83, can be captured with greater contrast using this filter in light-polluted conditions. If your camera has UV/IR cut protective glass, only the visible band transmission is used, limiting the filter’s performance in the infrared range. For best results, use this filter with cameras that have AR protective glass to capture both visible and NIR signals.
