ZWO Camera ASI 585 MM Mono (85770)

The ZWO ASI 585MM Mono camera features a large sensor with high sensitivity, excellent resolution, and a fast frame rate. This makes it ideal for planetary imaging, as well as for capturing detailed images of the Sun and Moon, and even for deep sky objects. Equipped with the modern Sony IMX585 sensor, the camera delivers high resolution with 2.9µm pixels, a high frame rate, and zero amplifier glow. This combination makes the camera suitable not just for planets, the Sun, and the Moon, but also for long-exposure deep sky photography.

Description

The ZWO ASI 585MM Mono camera features a large sensor with high sensitivity, excellent resolution, and a fast frame rate. This makes it ideal for planetary imaging, as well as for capturing detailed images of the Sun and Moon, and even for deep sky objects.

Equipped with the modern Sony IMX585 sensor, the camera delivers high resolution with 2.9µm pixels, a high frame rate, and zero amplifier glow. This combination makes the camera suitable not just for planets, the Sun, and the Moon, but also for long-exposure deep sky photography. The sensor’s size allows it to capture many deep sky objects without the need for additional optical correctors.

Key application areas:

  • High-detail lunar and planetary photography

  • Solar imaging (with appropriate solar filter)

  • Long-exposure imaging of nebulae and galaxies, without the need for active cooling

  • Infrared imaging to reduce seeing effects and achieve a sharper luminance channel

  • Autoguiding, thanks to the available autoguider port

  • Electronically Assisted Astronomy (EAA) for planets, the Moon, and the Sun

The fine 2.9µm pixel size provides very high resolution, even with slower telescopes (such as f/10 Maksutov-Cassegrain designs), eliminating the need for Barlow lenses. Although the camera is uncooled, the built-in PCS (Passive Cooling System) transfers heat away from the sensor via a thermal pad, reducing the sensor temperature by up to 15°C compared to cameras without PCS.
