The iOptron iAFS is one of the most advanced and versatile electronic focusers on the market, designed for precision, stability, and ease of use. Thanks to its iLock™ technology, the focuser mounts directly along the optical axis—eliminating the need for bulky external brackets that can introduce unwanted tilting or misalignment.

Patented lead screw design
At the heart of the iAFS focuser is its patented lead screw mechanism, which provides a passive position locking system capable of holding heavy astrophotography payloads securely in place. This design ensures that focus remains perfectly stable, even when the telescope is tilted.

Three focusing modes and manual control
The focuser offers three different focusing modes, a USB interface for computer control, and integrated direction buttons for fine manual adjustments. It also includes a manual focusing wheel that disengages the motor drive, allowing quick coarse focusing—ideal for efficiently approaching the focus point before fine-tuning electronically.

Precision engineering and build quality
The iAFS features an all-metal housing with a dirt-resistant surface, offering durability for long-term use. It includes an integrated temperature sensor for focus compensation, multiple USB-C ports, and automatic position limits to prevent overtravel. The focusing accuracy reaches 0.6 microns, with the 3-inch version achieving up to 0.4 microns, providing extremely precise control for demanding astrophotography setups.

Versatile connections
The focuser comes standard with a 2-inch visual back connection, allowing direct attachment of cameras with a 2-inch barrel. Additional threaded adapters for various telescope and camera systems are available separately.
