  This full-frame sensor delivers excellent low-light performance and extremely fast read-out, which greatly reduces rolling-shutter distortion.

• Cross-type AF
  The Cross-type autofocus is sensitive to both horizontal and vertical detail, providing more accurate focusing, especially in low-light or low-contrast scenes.

• RF lens mount

Autofocus powered by deep learning

The EOS R1 uses deep-learning to identify and track subjects, with the DIGIC Accelerator processor providing faster, more accurate tracking than previous generations.

• Action Priority mode
  This mode can determine the active subject based on the type of action in football, volleyball and basketball, adjusting AF behaviour to anticipate what happens next.

• Advanced subject recognition
  The AF system can identify and distinguish between different subject types and continue to track them even if they are partially hidden or small in the frame.

  • Faces: Recognises faces and heads, even when subjects wear helmets or masks.

• Dual Shooting function
  When enabled, you can press the shutter button while recording Full HD video to capture 5616 × 3168 pixel (17MP) JPEG photos at up to 10 fps, using the same shutter speed as the video, without interrupting the video stream.

Extraordinary performance as standard

• Up to 40 fps continuous shooting with minimal rolling shutter distortion

• Electronic shutter speeds up to 1/64,000 sec, allowing you to freeze even extremely fast motion

Pre-continuous shooting – capture moments before they happen

By half-pressing the shutter, the camera begins buffering frames. When you fully press the shutter, the EOS R1 also records up to 20 buffered images from before that moment. At 40 fps, this gives you roughly half a second of pre-capture; at slower speeds, the pre-capture time can be longer, offering even more flexibility.

Deep-learning image upscaling

In-camera upscaling lets you enlarge images by up to four times. This produces files up to 96 megapixels that are suitable for large prints, tight crops, and gallery presentation, while maintaining impressive detail.
