Every GFX camera has pushed large-format imaging in new directions, and this model continues that path with significant boosts in speed, video capability and autofocus performance – all while delivering the signature image quality professionals expect from the GFX system.

With its new 102 MP “GFX 102MP CMOS II HS” sensor and X-Processor 5, the GFX100 II offers roughly double the readout speed of the GFX100S. This allows for up to 8 fps continuous shooting, extremely responsive autofocus, and advanced video functions not previously available on GFX or X Series bodies.

High-speed performance

Subject detection autofocus

The X-Processor 5 introduces advanced subject detection AF, bringing fast, reliable autofocus to a large-format camera. Powered by deep-learning AI, the system can detect and track:

• Human faces and eyes

• Animals and birds

• Cars, motorcycles, bicycles

• Airplanes and trains

This lets you concentrate on composition and timing, knowing the camera will handle focus with confidence.

Tip: Set the “SUBJECT DETECTION SETTING” to “BIRD” to detect insects, and to “AIRPLANE” to detect drones.

Updated AF algorithm

An improved AF prediction algorithm enhances performance when tracking fast, erratic subjects, such as in sports or action photography.

High-speed bursts

• Up to 8 fps continuous shooting with the mechanical shutter* allows you to capture peak moments that were previously difficult to reach with large format.

• Boost mode increases the EVF display refresh rate to approximately 120 fps, helping you clearly follow fast-moving subjects in real time.

• Increased buffer memory reduces delays between frames and shortens viewfinder blackout for a smoother shooting experience.

• Blackout-free burst shooting at up to 5.3 fps* gives an uninterrupted view of very fast movement. In 35 mm format mode, blackout-free bursts up to 8.7 fps and 5.8 fps are also possible.

ISO 80 standard sensitivity

A refined pixel structure allows a base ISO of 80. This provides wider dynamic range and lower noise than previous models, especially in 16-bit stills.

Improved corner performance

Redesigned microlenses improve light gathering at the edges of the sensor, enhancing corner sharpness and autofocus accuracy, even with wide lenses.

HEIF support

In addition to JPEG, the camera supports 10-bit HEIF files, offering:

• Over a billion colours

• Higher image quality

• Up to roughly 30% less file size compared to JPEG

Pixel Shift Multi-Shot

For ultimate resolution and colour fidelity, Pixel Shift Multi-Shot can generate a 400 MP image:

• The in-body stabiliser shifts the sensor by 0.5 pixels between each frame.

• 20 RAW files are captured so that each red, green and blue pixel receives full information.

• The combined result is an extremely detailed image with minimal false colour and exceptionally fine detail.

New film simulation – REALA ACE

REALA ACE is the latest addition to Fujifilm’s film simulations and debuts on the GFX100 II:

Multiple cinema formats

Beyond the native GFX large-format mode, the camera supports several cine-style formats, including:

• Premista

• 35 mm

• Anamorphic 35 mm (with high-resolution FF anamorphic modes and in-camera de-squeeze options)

With a GF-to-PL adapter, you can mount PL cinema lenses such as Fujinon Premista and Cabrio zooms, using the large sensor for a truly cinematic look.

Improved subject tracking in video

In AF-C mode with Wide/Tracking AF:

• Tap the subject on the rear LCD to start tracking.

• The camera will follow that subject, even when multiple objects are present in the frame.

A faster sensor readout significantly reduces rolling shutter, making panning and tracking shots look more natural.

F-Log2 and dynamic range

The GFX100 II is the first GFX body to feature F-Log2:

• Offers 14+ stops of dynamic range*

• Preserves detail in shadows, midtones and highlights for extensive grading flexibility

Frame.io Camera to Cloud integration

The camera includes built-in Frame.io Camera to Cloud support without requiring extra hardware:

• Connect via Wi-Fi or Ethernet LAN

Manual focus assist – Focus Map

A new Focus Map mode helps visualise focus zones during manual focus, offering precise control for critical shots.

RAW output via HDMI

With compatible external recorders:

• ATOMOS devices can record 12-bit Apple ProRes RAW up to 8K at 29.97 fps.

• Blackmagic Video Assist units can record Blackmagic RAW up to 8K at 29.97 fps.

Video cooling and external SSD recording

• The optional FAN-001 cooling fan attaches directly to the camera, drawing power from the body and extending recording times in high temperatures.

• Through the USB Type-C port, you can record stills and video directly to an external SSD in most modes, including 4K/60p and 8K/30p (check Fujifilm’s SSD compatibility list for limitations).

• Optical-style view behaviour reduces distortion and drift when your eye is not perfectly centred, helping maintain a natural, accurate view.
