Subject recognition with 3D Tracking

Like the Z 9 and Z 8, the Z f can automatically recognise a wide variety of subjects, including:

Deep Learning technology then applies the appropriate focus and tracking behaviour for each subject type, using 3D Tracking to keep them sharp as they move.

High-speed continuous shooting

• Up to 14 fps continuous shooting using the mechanical shutter (tested to 200,000 cycles)

• Up to 30 fps using the silent electronic shutter in C30+ mode

Pre-Release Capture

Pre-Release Capture allows the camera to start buffering images before the shutter is fully pressed—up to 30 fps—so you can save moments that would otherwise be missed.

The Z f’s Auto mode uses Deep Learning to analyse the scene and automatically adjust aperture, shutter speed and ISO to match your intent:

AF detection down to –10 EV

The Z f can detect faces and even eyes in extremely dark conditions, with autofocus sensitivity down to –10 EV—the lowest of any Z series camera.

Selective Noise Processing

Noise reduction is intelligently concentrated on mid-tones and flat areas where noise is most visible. This preserves sharpness and detail while delivering clean, saturated low-light images.

Next-level image stabilisation

• Up to 8 stops of 5-axis in-body VR (image stabilisation), allowing much slower shutter speeds without blur.

Focus-point stabilisation (world first)

The Z f applies VR correction around the active focus point, wherever it is in the frame, rather than focusing stabilisation mostly around the centre. This gives more precise stabilisation right where your subject is.
