Description

Boasting upgraded video features and a refined body design, the Panasonic Lumix GH5 II is a professional-grade camera built for creators who need strong video and stills performance in one compact system. It uses a 20.3MP Live MOS sensor with AR coating and records DCI and UHD 4K using the full sensor area. The camera can record 10-bit 4:2:0 internally up to 60p, or 10-bit 4:2:2 up to 30p via HDMI. Unlimited video recording time helps minimize interruptions during long shoots. It comes with V-Log L pre-installed for easy multi-camera workflows and simple color matching with VariCam-series footage. The included DMW-BLK22 high-capacity battery delivers around 410 shots per charge when using either the rear monitor or the electronic viewfinder, and it can be charged quickly via the supplied USB 3.1 Type-C cable. Continuous power can also be delivered to the camera over USB while shooting.

A 3" 1.84m-dot rear TFT LCD monitor offers flexible composition, vivid color, and excellent visibility from different angles. The updated 5-axis sensor stabilization system works together with Lumix O.I.S. lenses to enable Dual I.S. 2 for highly effective shake reduction. Previously limited to 5 stops, the system now provides up to 6.5 stops of compensation, allowing slower shutter speeds when shooting handheld. The Depth-from-Defocus autofocus system supports both stills and video, providing fast, accurate focusing performance. The GH5 II also recognizes human face, eye, head, body, and animal subjects. Powered by deep learning technology, it detects eyes and faces roughly twice as fast as the original GH5, so you can concentrate more on composition. Designed for modern content creators, the Lumix Sync app for smartphones and tablets enables high-quality livestreaming with minimal additional equipment. Livestreaming via a network router is also possible using Lumix Network Setting Software. With just the camera and a smartphone, you can easily reach an online audience, making the GH5 II well suited for electronic news gathering, travel, events, lectures, and live commerce.

20.3MP Digital Live MOS Sensor with AR Coating and Venus Engine
The GH5 II uses a 20.3MP Digital Live MOS sensor with a newly developed AR coating and an improved Venus Engine image processor. This combination helps reduce ghosting and flare in backlit scenes, provides up to 25% more dynamic range, and improves color gradation and accuracy. Multipixel Luminance Generation technology optimizes sharpness and preserves detail in bright scenes. The camera offers refined three-dimensional color control and advanced noise reduction, allowing clean images at up to ISO 25600. It also supports continuous shooting at up to 12 fps with AF-S or manual focus.

4K Video Capabilities
The GH5 II delivers advanced video performance aimed at professional use and can record unlimited video clips in multiple formats and settings. It can record DCI and UHD 4K at 60p in 4:2:0 10-bit while simultaneously outputting 4:2:2 10-bit over HDMI during internal 4:2:0 recording. An HDMI port on the camera provides high-quality output for external monitors and recorders. High bit-rate recording options help maintain fine detail and minimize compression artifacts.

For experienced users, the Photo Style menu includes multiple picture profiles such as Cinelike D2 and Cinelike V2. These allow warm skin tones and subtle light and shadow nuances without the need to color-grade V-Log footage. Cinelike D2 emphasizes dynamic range, while Cinelike V2 emphasizes contrast. Additional styles like L. Monochrome S and L. Classic Neo are also available, and all of these can be used when recording anamorphic video.

The GH5 II is designed as a flexible, expandable system. Accessories such as an optional XLR Microphone Adapter add professional XLR audio inputs and physical controls via the hot shoe. Users can also connect standard microphones and headphones via the 3.5 mm input and output jacks.

Wireless and Wired Livestreaming
For ENG, travel, event coverage, lectures, and live commerce, the Lumix Sync app offers straightforward, high-quality wireless livestreaming with minimal gear. You can stream indoors or outdoors using just the camera and a smartphone. Livestreaming via a router is supported through Lumix Network Setting Software. In addition, wired USB-LAN IP livestreaming will be supported via a future firmware update.

225-Area Depth-from-Defocus Autofocus System
The GH5 II employs a high-speed, high-precision autofocus system using advanced deep learning technology to detect subjects such as people and fast-moving animals. Improved tracking performance allows quick identification and tracking of faces and eyes, and it can follow a human subject even if they move quickly, turn away, tilt their head, or move farther from the camera. This contrast-detection AF system benefits both stills and video, as well as subject-tracking scenarios, using color, size, and motion information to stay locked on moving subjects. Depth-from-Defocus technology rapidly calculates spatial data, helping the camera focus instantly and accurately.

Dual I.S. 2
To maximize sharpness in handheld shooting, the enhanced Dual I.S. 2 system combines in-body sensor-shift stabilization with lens-based stabilization to correct a wide range of motion types. When used with compatible Lumix lenses featuring O.I.S., this updated system allows the GH5 II to compensate for up to 6.5 stops of camera shake, resulting in clearer images and smoother video.

Body Design
• A large OLED Live View Finder features a 3.68m-dot resolution and 0.76x magnification for comfortable, eye-level framing.
• The 3" 1.84m-dot rear TFT LCD has a free-angle tilt-and-swivel design, supporting flexible viewing positions. It is also a touchscreen, enabling intuitive control of menus and settings.
• Dual UHS-II SD card slots support Relay Recording (automatically switching cards when one is full), Backup Recording (simultaneous recording to both cards), and Allocation Recording (saving different file types to separate cards for better organization).
• The body is built from magnesium alloy with die-cast front and rear frames. Extensive sealing around joints, dials, and buttons makes the GH5 II splashproof, dustproof, and freezeproof down to 14°F.

6K and 4K PHOTO Modes
When extremely high frame rates are needed to capture fleeting moments, 4K PHOTO allows you to extract 8MP stills at 30 or 60 fps, while 6K PHOTO captures 18MP stills at 30 fps. These modes offer unlimited recording duration, and a pre-burst function records one second before and one second after the shutter is pressed, giving up to 60 frames to choose from.

Other Camera Features
• A mechanical focal-plane shutter supports a top shutter speed of 1/8000 s and a maximum flash sync speed of 1/250 s. The electronic shutter offers speeds up to 1/16,000 s for shooting in bright light with wide apertures.
• Depending on the lens and settings used, the DMW-BLK22 battery provides around 410 shots per charge using either the rear monitor or EVF.
• New Photo Style modes include L. Classic Neo for a film-like, soft, nostalgic look; L. Monochrome S for gentle black and white portraits; Cinelike D2 for wider dynamic range; and Cinelike V2 for higher contrast.
• Pre-installed V-Log L simplifies multi-camera recording and post-production, making it easy to match color with footage from other VariCam-series cameras.
