The Panasonic Lumix S5 II body is built for creators who need strong performance in both stills and video. With a new 24.2MP full-frame CMOS sensor, updated L2 image processing engine, and Phase Hybrid AF, it delivers fast, precise autofocus and high-quality output. The camera records 6K video for up to 30 minutes and offers unlimited 4K recording. A new Active I.S. system improves stabilization, making handheld walking shots smoother and more stable.

New Sensor and Image Engine

The upgraded 24.2MP full-frame CMOS sensor works together with the L2 processing engine to support the new Phase Hybrid AF system. This autofocus system uses 779 phase-detection points to significantly improve subject tracking and focus reliability. The sensor is designed for a wide dynamic range and flexible sensitivity, with a standard ISO range of 100–51,200 that can be extended to 50–204,800 for very low-light situations.

For action and fast-moving subjects, the S5 II can shoot at up to 9 fps with the mechanical shutter and up to 30 fps with the electronic shutter at full resolution. The camera also features sensor-shift image stabilization and a High Resolution mode that captures eight separate exposures and combines them into a single 96MP RAW or JPEG file (12000 × 8000 pixels). This mode is ideal for static subjects and tripod use and produces highly detailed, color-accurate images.

6K and 4K Video Recording

The S5 II offers powerful video capabilities alongside its stills performance. It can record full-frame 6K video (up to 30p, 4:2:0 10-bit) for up to 30 minutes, and supports unlimited recording in DCI and UHD 4K 60p 4:2:2 10-bit mode. For slow motion work, it supports up to 120p recording in Full HD, allowing high-resolution slow-motion footage. RAW output over HDMI is available with an optional license upgrade.

V-Log is pre-installed and provides a flat, neutral gamma profile with up to 14+ stops of dynamic range, giving you extensive control for color grading and allowing seamless integration with footage from VariCam cameras.

The Dual Native ISO system offers two separate base ISO circuits to balance low noise and high sensitivity:

Phase Hybrid AF System

The S5 II is the first Lumix mirrorless camera to feature Phase Hybrid AF. With 779 phase-detection points, it provides fast, accurate focusing in both stills and video. The system is designed for reliability in challenging conditions, including:
