Improved Autofocus Performance

The Lumix S5 II builds on the original S5 with a new imaging engine and an all-new Hybrid Phase Detection AF system. Developed under the L Technology partnership between Leica and Lumix, the 24MP sensor supports phase and contrast AF working together for fast, accurate results in both stills and video.

With 779-area detection, the AF system can identify and lock onto subjects in low light, backlighting, and other demanding conditions. It maintains focus even when other moving objects enter the frame. Continuous AF while zooming and support for AF micro adjustments provide further fine-tuning for critical work.

The new processing engine brings expanded video options:

Footage benefits from a wide range of picture profiles, including V-Log and V-Gamut with up to 14+ stops of dynamic range. The Real Time LUT function lets you load custom LUTs from an SD card and apply them in-camera, greatly reducing or even eliminating some post-production grading steps.

For audio, the built-in microphone records clean 48 kHz/24-bit sound. With an optional XLR adapter, external microphones can be used to capture up to 96 kHz/24-bit audio for higher-end productions.
