The Panasonic Lumix S5 IIX is designed for professional content creators who need high-quality stills, advanced video features, and built-in livestreaming options. Built around a 24.2MP full-frame CMOS sensor and an updated L2 image processing engine, it is the first Lumix camera to use Phase Hybrid AF for fast, precise autofocus. The enhanced sensor and processor allow 6K video recording for up to 30 minutes and unlimited 4K video capture. Optimized for video, the S5 IIX also features a new Active I.S. system that stabilizes walking shots and other camera movement for smoother footage.

Unlike the S5 II, the S5 IIX comes preconfigured with additional pro video tools, including HDMI RAW output, recording to external USB SSDs, ALL-Intra and ProRes recording. It also includes livestreaming functions such as wireless IP streaming, USB tethering to smartphones, and wired IP streaming. This model introduces a stealthy all-black exterior, giving it a more discreet, cinema-oriented appearance.

New sensor and processing engine

An updated 24.2MP full-frame CMOS sensor works with the L2 image processor and a Phase Hybrid AF system with 779 phase-detection points. This combination provides significantly improved subject tracking and focusing accuracy. The sensor delivers a wide dynamic range with a standard ISO range of 100–51,200, expandable to 50–204,800, making the camera suitable for a wide variety of lighting conditions.

For fast action, the S5 IIX supports continuous shooting at up to 9 fps using the mechanical shutter and up to 30 fps with the electronic shutter at full resolution. The built-in 5-axis sensor-shift stabilizer also enables a High Resolution mode that captures eight separate exposures and merges them into a single 96MP RAW or JPEG file (12000 × 8000 pixels). This mode works best with static subjects on a tripod and produces images with much greater detail and more accurate color than a single shot.

6K and 4K video performance

The S5 IIX offers advanced video capabilities for professional use. It can record:

RAW output over HDMI is supported, and with the S5 IIX these features are enabled out of the box. ProRes and ALL-Intra recording modes are available internally, and recording directly to an external SSD via USB improves backup workflows and post-production efficiency.

V-Log is pre-installed and offers a flat, neutral gamma curve with approximately 14+ stops of dynamic range. This allows detailed grading control and easy matching with Panasonic VariCam footage.

Dual Native ISO technology offers two base ISO circuits per pixel to balance low noise and high sensitivity:

The S5 IIX is the first Lumix mirrorless camera to adopt Phase Hybrid AF, combining phase-detection and contrast-detection systems. With 779 phase-detection points, it provides fast, accurate autofocus in both stills and video.

This AF system is tuned for reliability in six challenging conditions, including low light, backlit scenes, and frames with multiple moving people. It continuously tracks your chosen subject even when other objects cross into the frame, helping maintain consistent focus in complex environments.

Dual I.S. 2 with Active I.S. stabilization
