The Panasonic Lumix S5 IIX is a second-generation full-frame mirrorless camera designed for professional content creators who need high-quality stills, advanced video tools, and reliable livestreaming. It uses a newly developed sensor and an updated L2 image processing engine and is the first Lumix camera to feature Phase Hybrid AF, delivering fast and highly accurate autofocus. With its 24.2MP sensor and powerful processor, the camera can record 6K video for up to 30 minutes and offers unlimited 4K recording. Optimized for video work, it also includes a new Active I.S. system that stabilizes handheld and walking shots while recording.

This advanced S5 IIX model comes pre-loaded with professional video features such as HDMI RAW video output, USB-SSD recording, ALL-Intra recording, and ProRes recording. Livestreaming is built in, with support for Wireless IP streaming, USB tethering to smartphones, and wired IP streaming. It is also the first Lumix camera to feature a refined, stealthy, all-black design.

New Sensor and Processing Engine
The camera is equipped with an upgraded full-frame 24.2MP CMOS sensor and an L2-powered image processor. The sensor incorporates a newly developed Phase Hybrid AF system, a first for Lumix cameras, providing 779 phase-detection points for significantly improved subject tracking and focus reliability. It delivers high sensitivity and a wide dynamic range with a standard ISO range of 100–51,200, which can be expanded to 50–204,800 for flexible shooting in a variety of lighting conditions.

For action and fast-moving subjects, the S5 IIX supports full-resolution continuous shooting at up to 9 fps with the mechanical shutter and up to 30 fps with the electronic shutter. The camera also uses sensor-shift image stabilization and offers a High Resolution mode that captures and merges eight separate exposures to create a single 96MP raw or JPEG file. This mode is ideal for static subjects and tripod shooting, producing highly detailed and color-accurate images with a resolution of 12,000 x 8,000 pixels.

6K and 4K Video Recording
Beyond still photography, the S5 IIX is built as a powerful video tool. It records full-frame 6K 30p video with 4:2:0 10-bit color for up to 30 minutes and allows unlimited recording when shooting in DCI or UHD 4K 60p 4:2:2 10-bit modes. For creators who want slow-motion footage, the camera supports 120p video recording. RAW HDMI output is available via an optional license upgrade.

V-Log comes pre-installed and provides a flat, neutral gamma profile with more than 14 stops of dynamic range. This gives excellent flexibility in post-production and seamless integration with footage from Panasonic VariCam cameras.

Borrowed from Panasonic’s broadcast video line, Dual Native ISO technology helps maintain both low noise and high sensitivity. Each pixel has two dedicated circuits:

Phase Hybrid AF System
The S5 IIX is the first Lumix mirrorless camera to adopt a Phase Hybrid AF system. With 779 phase-detection points, it offers fast, precise autofocus and excellent subject tracking performance. Consistent autofocus reliability is a key focus of this system: it is designed to track and maintain focus in six types of challenging scenes, including those with multiple people, strong backlighting, or low-light conditions. Whether shooting stills or video, the camera is built to lock onto and persistently follow the intended subject.

Dual I.S. 2 with Active I.S.
For handheld photography, the Dual I.S. 2 image stabilization system compensates for approximately 6.5 stops of camera shake, helping to maintain maximum sharpness. For video, the newly developed Active I.S. system improves stabilization while walking or moving with the camera, resulting in smoother footage when shooting handheld.
