Panasonic S5 II X with 20-60mm Lens (SKU DC-S5M2XKE)

The second-generation Panasonic Lumix S5 IIX is built for professional content creators who demand excellent still-image quality, advanced video tools, and reliable livestreaming. It uses a newly designed sensor and upgraded L2 image processor, and it is the first Lumix camera to feature Phase Hybrid AF, delivering fast, precise autofocus. With its 24.2MP sensor and enhanced processor, the camera can record 6K video for up to 30 minutes and offers unlimited 4K recording. Optimized especially for video, the S5 IIX also includes a new Active I.S. system, which provides improved stabilization for handheld and walking shots.

This advanced S5 IIX model comes equipped with a full suite of professional video features, including HDMI RAW output, USB-SSD recording, ALL-Intra recording, and ProRes recording. Livestreaming is available out of the box, with support for Wireless IP streaming, USB smartphone tethering, and wired IP streaming. It is also the first Lumix camera to feature a refined, understated all-black exterior.

New Sensor and Image Processing
The camera is fitted with an upgraded full-frame 24.2MP CMOS sensor and an L2-enhanced image processing engine. The sensor incorporates a newly developed Phase Hybrid AF system, a first for the Lumix range, offering 779 phase-detection points for notably improved subject tracking. It balances high sensitivity and wide dynamic range, with a native ISO range of 100–51,200 that can be expanded to 50–204,800 to handle a wide variety of lighting conditions.

For moving subjects and action, the S5 IIX supports full-resolution continuous shooting at up to 9 fps with the mechanical shutter and up to 30 fps with the electronic shutter. It also features sensor-shift image stabilization and a High Resolution mode that captures and merges eight separate exposures into a single 96MP raw or JPEG image. This mode is intended for tripod use and static scenes, delivering very detailed, color-accurate files at 12,000 x 8,000 pixels.

6K and 4K Video Recording
Alongside still photography, the S5 IIX provides powerful video capabilities. It records full-frame 6K 30p footage in 4:2:0 10-bit color for up to 30 minutes. When shooting in DCI or UHD 4K 60p 4:2:2 10-bit, recording is effectively unlimited. For creators who want smooth slow motion, the camera also supports 120p video capture. RAW HDMI output is available via an optional license.

V-Log is pre-installed and allows recording with a flat, neutral gamma profile, offering more than 14 stops of dynamic range. This provides excellent flexibility in grading and seamless integration with VariCam workflows. Dual Native ISO, derived from Panasonic’s broadcast camera technology, helps balance low-noise performance and high sensitivity. Each pixel has two dedicated circuits:

• Low ISO circuit: ISO 100 for general use, ISO 640 in V-Log, ISO 400 in HLG, ISO 200 in Cinelike D2/V2

Phase Hybrid AF System
The S5 IIX is the first Lumix mirrorless camera to use a Phase Hybrid AF system. With 779 phase-detection points, it delivers fast, precise autofocus and excellent tracking performance. Reliability is prioritized, allowing the system to follow subjects accurately in six types of challenging scenes, including low-light situations, backlit scenes, and frames with multiple people. For both still photography and video recording, the camera continuously tracks the intended subject in difficult conditions.

Dual I.S. 2 and Active I.S. Stabilization
For handheld stills, the Dual I.S. 2 image stabilization system compensates for approximately 6.5 stops of camera shake, supporting crisp, sharp images. For video, the newly developed Active I.S. system provides additional stabilization when walking or moving with the camera, creating smoother handheld footage.
