The second-generation Panasonic Lumix S5 IIX is designed for professional content creators who need excellent still-image quality, advanced video tools, and built-in livestreaming. It features a newly designed sensor and updated L2 image processor and is the first Lumix camera to offer Phase Hybrid AF, providing fast and precise autofocus. With its 24.2MP sensor and enhanced processor, the camera records 6K video for up to 30 minutes and offers unlimited 4K recording. Optimized for video, the S5 IIX also includes a new Active I.S. system that improves stabilization, especially when shooting handheld or while walking.

This advanced model comes pre-loaded with professional video features such as HDMI RAW output, USB-SSD recording, ALL-Intra recording, and ProRes recording. Livestreaming is standard, with options for Wireless IP streaming, USB tethering to smartphones, and wired IP streaming. It is also the first Lumix camera to feature a fully stealthy, all-black exterior for a discreet, professional look.

New Sensor and Processing Engine
The S5 IIX is equipped with an upgraded full-frame 24.2MP CMOS sensor and an L2-powered image processor. The sensor incorporates a brand-new Phase Hybrid AF system—used for the first time in a Lumix-series camera—which provides 779 phase-detection points, significantly improving subject tracking performance. The sensor offers high sensitivity and wide dynamic range with a standard ISO range of 100–51,200, expandable to 50–204,800, allowing reliable operation in many lighting conditions.

For action photography, the camera supports full-resolution continuous shooting at up to 9 fps with the mechanical shutter and up to 30 fps with the electronic shutter. The built-in sensor-shift stabilization works together with a High Resolution mode that merges eight separate exposures into one 96MP raw or JPEG image. This mode is ideal for static subjects and tripod use, producing highly detailed, color-accurate files at 12,000 x 8,000 pixels.

6K and 4K Video Recording
In addition to stills, the S5 IIX offers powerful video capabilities. It supports full-frame 6K 30p recording in 4:2:0 10-bit color for up to 30 minutes and allows unlimited recording in DCI and UHD 4K 60p 4:2:2 10-bit modes. For slow-motion production, it supports 120p recording. RAW HDMI output can be activated via an optional license.

V-Log is pre-installed and captures a flat, neutral gamma curve with more than 14 stops of dynamic range. This enables precise color and exposure control in post-production and seamless editing alongside Panasonic VariCam footage. Dual Native ISO, adapted from Panasonic’s broadcast cameras, balances low noise and high sensitivity. Each pixel uses two dedicated circuits:

The S5 IIX is the first Lumix mirrorless camera to use a Phase Hybrid AF system. With 779 phase-detection points, it delivers fast, accurate focusing and excellent tracking performance. Reliability is a key focus: Phase Detection AF is designed to track subjects in six challenging situations, including low-light scenes, backlit conditions, and frames containing multiple people. Whether shooting stills or video, the camera continuously follows and maintains focus on the intended subject.

Dual I.S. 2 with Active I.S.
For handheld photography, Dual I.S. 2 provides approximately 6.5 stops of shake compensation, helping achieve maximum sharpness. For video work, the newly developed Active I.S. system further improves stabilization when the camera is moving, particularly during walking shots.
