Panasonic Lumix S5 IIX Mirrorless Camera
The Lumix S5 IIX is designed for professional creators who need excellent still performance, advanced video options, and built-in livestreaming. It features a newly developed sensor and updated L2 processing engine and is the first Lumix camera to use Phase Hybrid AF, delivering fast and accurate autofocus. The 24.2MP sensor, combined with the enhanced processor, supports 6K video recording for up to 30 minutes and offers unlimited 4K recording. For video-focused work, the camera also includes a new Active I.S. system to improve stabilization during handheld and walking shots.

This S5 IIX variant comes pre-configured with advanced video tools aimed at professionals, including HDMI RAW output, USB-SSD recording, ALL-Intra recording, and ProRes recording. Livestreaming is supported via Wireless IP streaming, USB tethering to smartphones, and wired IP streaming. The body also features a refined, stealthy all-black finish, a first for Lumix cameras.

New Sensor and L2 Processing
The camera uses an upgraded full-frame 24.2MP CMOS sensor and an L2-based image processor. The sensor incorporates a new Phase Hybrid AF system—debuting in the Lumix line—with 779 phase-detection points for greatly improved subject tracking. It offers a wide dynamic range and high sensitivity, with a standard ISO range of 100–51,200 that can be expanded to 50–204,800 to handle a variety of lighting situations.

The S5 IIX is capable of continuous full-resolution shooting at up to 9 fps with the mechanical shutter and up to 30 fps with the electronic shutter. It employs sensor-shift stabilization and includes a High Resolution mode that captures and combines eight exposures into a single 96MP raw or JPEG file. This mode is intended for tripod use and static subjects and produces highly detailed images at 12,000 x 8,000 pixels with improved color accuracy.

6K and 4K Video Recording
In addition to still photography, the S5 IIX is a highly capable video camera. It records full-frame 6K 30p video in 4:2:0 10-bit color for up to 30 minutes. Unlimited recording is supported when shooting in DCI or UHD 4K 60p 4:2:2 10-bit modes. For slow-motion work, it supports high-resolution 120p recording. RAW output over HDMI can be enabled via an optional license.

V-Log is pre-installed and provides a flat, neutral gamma curve with more than 14 stops of dynamic range. This allows precise color control and seamless grading, especially in workflows that mix footage with Panasonic VariCam cameras. Dual Native ISO, derived from Panasonic’s broadcast line, helps maintain both low noise and high sensitivity. Each pixel has two circuits:

• Low ISO circuit: ISO 100 (normal), ISO 640 (V-Log), ISO 400 (HLG), ISO 200 (Cinelike D2/V2)

• Low Noise circuit: ISO 640 (normal), ISO 4000 (V-Log), ISO 2500 (HLG), ISO 1250 (Cinelike D2/V2)

Phase Hybrid Autofocus System
The S5 IIX is the first Lumix mirrorless body to implement a Phase Hybrid AF system. With 779 phase-detection points, it delivers fast, precise autofocus and reliable subject tracking. It is designed to maintain focus in six challenging scene types that are typically difficult for conventional AF systems, such as scenes with multiple people, strong backlighting, or low light. In both stills and video, the camera aims to keep your intended subject sharply in focus even in complex environments.

Dual I.S. 2 and Active I.S.
For handheld still shooting, the Dual I.S. 2 image stabilization system compensates for approximately 6.5 stops of camera shake, helping to deliver very sharp results. For video, the new Active I.S. system provides additional stabilization during walking or moving shots, resulting in smoother handheld footage when the camera is in motion.

Body Design and Handling
