The Panasonic Lumix S5 IIX is a second-generation full-frame mirrorless camera aimed at professional content creators who need high-quality stills, advanced video features, and reliable livestreaming. It uses a newly designed sensor and an updated L2 image processor and is the first Lumix camera to include Phase Hybrid AF, providing very fast and precise autofocus. With its 24.2MP sensor and enhanced processing power, the S5 IIX can record 6K video for up to 30 minutes and offers unlimited 4K recording. Optimized for video work, it is also equipped with a new Active I.S. system that stabilizes handheld and walking shots while you record.

This advanced S5 IIX model comes pre-loaded with professional video tools, including HDMI RAW output, USB-SSD recording, ALL-Intra recording, and ProRes recording. Livestreaming functionality is built in, with support for Wireless IP streaming, USB tethering to smartphones, and wired IP streaming. It is also the first Lumix camera to feature a fully stealthy, all-black design.

Sensor and Processing Engine
The camera features an updated full-frame 24.2MP CMOS sensor and an L2-powered image processor. The sensor incorporates a newly developed Phase Hybrid AF system—used for the first time in a Lumix camera—with 779 phase-detection points for greatly improved subject tracking. It offers a wide dynamic range and high sensitivity, with a standard ISO range of 100–51,200 that can be expanded to 50–204,800, making it suitable for many lighting conditions.

For action and fast-moving subjects, the S5 IIX supports full-resolution burst shooting at up to 9 fps with the mechanical shutter and up to 30 fps with the electronic shutter. It includes in-body sensor-shift stabilization and a High Resolution mode that combines eight exposures into one 96MP raw or JPEG file. This mode is ideal for tripod-mounted shots of static subjects and produces extremely detailed, color-accurate images at 12,000 x 8,000 pixels.

6K and 4K Video Recording
Beyond still photography, the S5 IIX is a powerful video camera. It records full-frame 6K 30p video in 4:2:0 10-bit for up to 30 minutes, and it can record without time limits when shooting in DCI or UHD 4K 60p 4:2:2 10-bit. For slow-motion work, it supports 120p recording in high resolution. RAW HDMI output is available with an optional license upgrade.

V-Log is pre-installed and provides a flat, neutral image profile with over 14 stops of dynamic range. This gives you fine control in grading and easy matching with Panasonic VariCam footage. Dual Native ISO technology, adapted from Panasonic’s broadcast cameras, balances low noise with high sensitivity. Each pixel uses two dedicated circuits:

• Low ISO circuit: ISO 100 (standard), ISO 640 (V-Log), ISO 400 (HLG), ISO 200 (Cinelike D2/V2)

Phase Hybrid AF System
The S5 IIX is the first Lumix mirrorless camera to use a Phase Hybrid AF system. Its 779 phase-detection points provide fast, highly accurate autofocus and reliable subject tracking. The system is designed to follow subjects in six challenging scenarios that typically trouble conventional AF, such as backlit situations, low light, and scenes with multiple people. Whether capturing stills or video, the camera continuously tracks and maintains focus on the chosen subject in complex environments.

Dual I.S. 2 with Active I.S.
For handheld stills, the Dual I.S. 2 image stabilization system compensates for about 6.5 stops of camera shake, helping you maintain maximum sharpness. For video work, the new Active I.S. system adds extra stabilization when walking or moving with the camera, resulting in noticeably smoother handheld footage.

The Panasonic DMW-XLR1 is a hot shoe–mounted XLR microphone adapter designed to extend the audio capabilities of compatible Lumix mirrorless cameras such as the GH5 and S-series models. It connects directly to the camera via the hot shoe and provides two XLR inputs for professional microphones. A top-mounted control panel with a clear protective cover houses physical dials and switches for adjusting input levels, gain, and low-cut filters for each channel independently.

The adapter supports high-resolution audio recording up to 96 kHz and 24-bit. A cable clamp helps manage connected cables, and a shoe mount on top of the unit can be used to attach additional accessories. The DMW-XLR1 draws power directly from the camera, so no separate power source is required.
