Description

The GR III HDF is designed as the ultimate snapshot camera for today’s photographers. Staying true to the GR concept of outstanding image quality, fast response, and high portability, this latest model uses a completely updated core: a new lens, new image sensor, and new imaging engine.

Despite being even more compact than its predecessor, the GR III HDF houses a large APS-C CMOS sensor with approximately 24.24 effective megapixels, delivering high-resolution images with fine detail. A fast start-up time of about 0.8 seconds allows you to react quickly and capture moments as they happen.

What sets the GR III HDF apart is its integrated HDF (Highlight Diffusion Filter), which adds a new, softer visual style alongside the classic crisp GR look.

New GR III HDF Model with Highlight Diffusion Filter
The GR III HDF builds on the strengths of the standard GR III—excellent image quality, intuitive operation, and easy portability—and adds a built-in Highlight Diffusion Filter (HDF).

With a single action, you can enable HDF to produce soft, mellow images with diffused highlights or switch it off for the sharp, high-contrast rendering typical of the GR series. This allows you to change the character of your images instantly, depending on your subject or creative intent.

  • HDF emphasizes highlight areas and creates smooth, gentle diffusion.

  • A dedicated control makes it easy to toggle HDF on or off, giving you two distinct visual styles in one camera.

  • Note: The built-in ND filter found in the base GR III is replaced by HDF in this model.

High Image Quality – GR Lens and 24.2 MP APS-C Sensor

Legendary GR Lens
This model uses the renowned GR fixed lens, further refined to offer superior optical performance compared to previous GR lenses. It delivers sharpness, contrast, and clarity suitable for high-resolution capture on an APS-C sensor.

24.24 MP APS-C Sensor

  • Approx. 24.24 effective megapixels for highly detailed stills.

  • AA filter–less design for maximum sharpness and fine detail.

  • Combined with the GR engine, it produces natural color, smooth tonal transitions, and excellent resolution.

Fast Response and Stability

High-Speed Hybrid Autofocus

  • Image-plane phase-detection AF provides fast focusing.

  • Contrast-detection AF ensures high precision.

  • The hybrid AF system offers responsive and accurate focus, even in challenging situations.

Shake Reduction (SR) – 3-Axis Stabilization

  • Sensor-shift Shake Reduction compensates for camera movement on three axes.

  • Provides up to 4 stops of shake compensation (CIPA standard, based on shutter speed conversion).

  • Helps maintain sharpness when shooting handheld at slower shutter speeds.

Direct, Intuitive Controls

  • LCD supports full touch operation, including AF point selection and menu navigation.

  • Control dials and a clear layout provide quick access to key functions.

  • The touchscreen and ADJ lever allow for fast and efficient control during shooting.

Ongoing Evolution via Firmware Updates
The GR III HDF is designed to grow with firmware updates that add and refine features over time, ensuring the camera continues to evolve.

Flexible Customization

  • Frequently used functions can be assigned to the ADJ lever and Fn button.

  • This enables a personalized control scheme tailored to your shooting style.

Image Control and JPEG Adjustments

  • The camera includes a wide range of advanced image settings (Image Control) and in-camera JPEG adjustment options, allowing you to fine-tune color, tone, and contrast to match your preferred look.
