The Silver Sony Alpha a7C combines the benefits of a full-frame sensor with a highly portable, streamlined body. With its 24.2MP Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor, the camera is built for both photography and video while remaining convenient enough for everyday carry.

Its full-frame sensor and BIONZ X processor deliver up to 15 stops of dynamic range, UHD 4K video recording, extended ISO sensitivity from 50 to 204800, and continuous shooting up to 10 fps for capturing fast-moving subjects. The sensor integrates a Fast Hybrid AF system that uses 693 phase-detection points and 425 contrast-detection areas for fast and accurate focusing. Real-time Eye AF and Tracking AF further improve subject accuracy. A 5-axis in-body image stabilization system provides up to five stops of compensation for sharper handheld results.

Compared to other a7-series bodies, the a7C adopts a sleeker, rangefinder-like profile with an offset electronic viewfinder and simplified top plate. The 0.39" OLED EVF offers 2.36m-dot clarity, paired with a 3.0" side-opening vari-angle touchscreen. Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth allow wireless control and file sharing with mobile devices.

24.2MP Exmor R Sensor and BIONZ X Processor

The back-illuminated 24.2MP Exmor R CMOS sensor works with the BIONZ X processor to deliver high-quality stills and video with low noise and fast performance. A gapless on-chip lens structure and anti-reflective coating improve light efficiency, while a copper wiring layer boosts readout speed. The camera supports 14-bit RAW output and a native ISO range of 100–51200, expandable to 50–204800. It also records internal UHD 4K using the full sensor width with high dynamic range.

The processing system enables continuous shooting up to 10 fps with AF/AE tracking for up to 223 JPEGs or 115 RAW images.

UHD 4K Video in XAVC S

The a7C records UHD 4K at up to 30 fps with 2.4x oversampling for high detail and reduced moiré. Full HD 1080p recording reaches 120 fps for slow-motion playback. All video is captured in the 100 Mb/s XAVC S format with 4:2:0 8-bit sampling. Clean 4K output with 4:2:2 8-bit is available via HDMI when using an external recorder.

The camera offers extensive color and gamma controls, including S-Log2, S-Log3, and HLG for HDR workflows and enhanced grading flexibility.

Body Design and Handling

The a7C features a compact, lightweight build that resembles a rangefinder. It is roughly 20% smaller and lighter than typical a7-series cameras. The 0.39" OLED EVF and fully articulating touchscreen LCD provide flexible viewing options.

A magnesium-alloy body with weather sealing ensures durability, and the high-capacity NP-FZ100 battery delivers approximately 740 shots with the LCD or 680 with the EVF. The camera includes a UHS-II–compatible SD card slot, USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port for tethering and charging, and a Multi Interface Shoe that supports digital audio accessories. Microphone and headphone jacks are also included.

Wi-Fi enables instant sharing to mobile devices, support for 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, and wireless tethering. NFC allows quick pairing, while Bluetooth offers location data acquisition.

Fast Hybrid Autofocus

The Fast Hybrid AF system covers most of the frame using 693 phase-detection points and 425 contrast-detection areas. It performs well in light levels down to –4 EV and supports all shooting modes. Real-time Tracking and Real-time Eye AF work for humans and animals, ensuring accurate subject capture.

5-Axis SteadyShot INSIDE Stabilization

Despite its compact size, the a7C features 5-axis in-body stabilization that compensates for up to five stops of camera shake. This system works with any lens, including adapted lenses and those without optical stabilization. It corrects pitch, yaw, roll, and horizontal and vertical shift.

FE 28–60mm f/4–5.6 Lens

The included FE 28–60mm lens features a retractable, compact design suited for everyday use. The optical construction includes three aspherical elements that minimize distortion and enhance sharpness. A linear motor provides fast, quiet autofocus for photo and video. The lens is also weather-sealed.
