The DJI RS 4 Pro is a flagship 3-axis gimbal designed as a central hub for professional film and television production. It integrates seamlessly with the DJI Focus Pro lens control system, DJI Transmission, and a broad control ecosystem. Together, these tools unify stabilization, wireless video, monitoring, focusing, and camera control into one connected system, giving cinematographers a complete production solution in a single platform.

Professional design with high payload capacity

  • Carbon fiber axis arms give the RS 4 Pro a tested payload capacity of up to 4.5 kg (10 lb), easily supporting most mirrorless and cinema camera setups with lenses and key accessories.

  • This strength is paired with high motor torque, providing power reserves even with heavier rigs and additional gear.

Second-generation native vertical shooting

  • A redesigned horizontal plate allows direct, native vertical shooting without extra brackets or adapters.

  • To switch to vertical, you simply release the horizontal plate and lock it in the vertical position, speeding up orientation changes for social and vertical formats.

Refined balancing and mounting

  • The roll axis now uses dual rolling bearings for smoother, easier adjustments.

  • All three axes have a low-friction Teflon coating, which makes balancing smoother even with heavy or front-heavy cameras.

  • A fine-tuning knob on the tilt axis lets you move the camera forwards or backwards with millimeter-level precision when changing cameras or lenses.

  • The upper quick-release plate includes an adjustable guide to prevent the camera from shifting or loosening during use.

Automatic screen lock and improved axis locks

  • The OLED touchscreen now features auto-lock: once locked it prevents accidental touches, but still shows key gimbal and joystick modes at low brightness to save power.

  • Second-generation automated axis locks quickly lock or unlock all axes when powering on, entering sleep mode, or storing the gimbal.

  • Tighter lock tolerances reduce play when the gimbal is locked, helping keep the system more stable and secure when carried.

Enhanced stabilization and torque

  • Motor torque has been increased by about 20% on all three axes, improving response and tracking accuracy once the rig is balanced.

  • This extra torque is especially helpful for fast movements, dynamic tracking shots, or when mounting heavy camera/lens combinations.

Car Mount mode

  • A dedicated Car Mount mode optimizes the stabilization algorithm for vehicle vibration and wind resistance.

  • This mode improves performance when the gimbal is mounted on cars or other moving platforms in rough or high-speed environments.

Fourth-generation RS stabilization algorithm

  • The latest RS algorithm has been reworked to balance strong stabilization with natural camera movement feel.

  • It offers stable, predictable performance across a wide range of shooting scenarios, including running shots and low-angle moves.

  • Vertical shooting stability has been significantly improved, making dynamic vertical tracking and low-angle shots easier to control.

  • When paired with the Focus Pro LiDAR and Focus Pro Motor, the RS 4 Pro unlocks accurate, long-range, and intelligent LiDAR autofocus.

  • Solo operators can gain precise, repeatable focus control even in challenging, fast-moving scenes.

ActiveTrack Pro

  • Using the latest AI algorithms and Focus Pro LiDAR, ActiveTrack Pro allows the gimbal to lock onto and follow a selected subject across all three axes.

  • If the subject is briefly blocked, the system can re-identify and re-lock quickly.

  • ActiveTrack Pro maintains strong recognition and tracking performance even with multiple subjects or at longer distances.

Focus Pro Motor improvements

  • The Focus Pro Motor delivers smoother, more precise movement for focus, zoom, or iris control.

  • This precision allows nuanced focus pulls and more sophisticated visual language in cinematic projects.

Joystick-based lens control and dual motor operation

  • A new joystick mode switch lets you choose whether the joystick drives gimbal movement or lens zoom.

  • In zoom mode, you can control:

    • Power Zoom (for PZ lenses)

    • Clear Image Zoom

    • Zoom via an external focus motor

  • With two Focus Pro Motors attached, the joystick can control zoom while the dial handles focus, enabling smooth and efficient dual-axis lens control.

Focus Pro Hand Unit and multi-operator workflows

  • The Focus Pro system includes a high-precision magnetic-damping Hand Unit for manual focus control.

  • On multi-operator shoots, the gimbal operator can run the RS 4 Pro using:

    • DJI Master Wheels

    • Ronin 4D Hand Grips

    • DJI High-Bright Remote Monitor

  • The focus puller can use LiDAR Waveform on the High-Bright Remote Monitor to assist focus judgment and control the Focus Pro Hand Unit more accurately.

Efficient operation and customizable controls

Bluetooth wireless control

  • Dual-Mode Bluetooth provides wireless shutter control and wireless zoom on supported cameras and lenses.

  • After switching the joystick to zoom control, you can perform Power Zoom and Clear Image Zoom without cables.

Trigger customisation

  • The trigger can be configured to FPV mode: when held, all three axes follow the movement and rotation of the grip.

  • This is ideal for rotational shots, rolling POVs, or dynamic perspective changes.

Gimbal mode switch

  • A physical switch lets you quickly change between PF (Pan Follow), PTF (Pan-Tilt Follow), and FPV.

  • FPV mode can be replaced with 3D Roll 360 or a Custom mode, depending on preferred shooting styles and requirements.

Extended battery runtime

  • The included BG30 battery grip provides up to approximately 13 hours of runtime when the gimbal is balanced and stationary.

  • In practical moving use, runtime will be somewhat reduced, but still remains long enough for most shooting days.
