Description
The MAGUS CHD20 is a digital microscope camera designed for capturing photos, recording video, editing results, and performing linear and angular measurements of observed objects and their structures. Thanks to its built-in software, the camera can operate independently, connecting not only to a computer but also directly to an external display. This flexibility is enabled by two interfaces: HDMI and USB.
The camera delivers a high-quality Full HD image with a resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels, offering high frame rates and fast data transfer. It uses a highly light-sensitive Sony sensor that performs well even under fluorescent lighting. RGB mosaic filters are applied to reduce dark current and ensure a clear, detailed image. The entire imaging system is optimized to prevent tearing, freezing, or distortion, even when observing moving specimens.
Sensor and image quality
The camera is equipped with a Sony Starvis series color CMOS sensor. With a compact 1/2-inch size and pixel dimensions of 3.75 × 3.75 µm, it provides excellent photosensitivity of 1175 mV at a shutter speed of 1/30 s. Back-illuminated technology allows reliable imaging in low-light conditions. To achieve the widest possible field of view without distortion, the use of a 0.5× to 0.7× magnification adapter is recommended.
Software and autonomous operation
An installation disc with dedicated software is included. The built-in software allows the MAGUS CHD20 to function autonomously, enabling photo capture, video recording, on-device image processing, and object measurement without the need for a computer. For accurate measurements, the software must be calibrated for each microscope objective using a calibration slide.
Connectivity and external devices
The MAGUS CHD20 supports connection to external monitors, computers, and additional peripherals. HDMI output enables connection to a monitor, television, or projector at 60 frames per second. USB 2.0 allows connection to a computer at up to 50 frames per second.
A 32 GB SD card is included for storing photos and videos, which can be processed using the built-in software. The USB interface also supports connection of a flash drive. For convenient operation, a USB mouse is included, helping to minimize vibrations caused by direct interaction with the camera.
The camera can be paired with dedicated MAGUS monitors that mount directly onto the device, forming a complete microscope imaging system.
Mounting on a microscope
The camera can be installed in a microscope eyepiece tube using a C-mount adapter and a suitable adapter ring for the tube diameter, which are purchased separately. A C-mount adapter is required for installation in a trinocular tube.
