This 2×/0.06 objective provides a resolution limit of 4.58 µm. Chromatic aberrations are corrected for blue and red wavelengths, spherical aberration is corrected for green, and field curvature is corrected across 90% of the field of view diameter, ensuring uniform image quality across most of the visible area.

When used with a 10×/22 mm eyepiece, the objective delivers a wide 11 mm field of view with a depth of field of 76 µm. This makes it ideal for initial scanning of specimens and for quickly locating areas of interest. To ensure even illumination across the entire field of view at 2× magnification, the front lens of the condenser should be removed. The objective is designed for infinity-corrected optical systems and has a parfocal distance of 60 mm. It can be used with specimens with or without a cover glass, offering added flexibility in sample preparation.

With a 2× objective, the microscope’s useful magnification range starts at 30×. Below this level, specimen details cannot be resolved effectively. The upper useful magnification limit is 60×; higher magnifications do not provide additional detail and are therefore considered optically ineffective. For optimal results with the 2×/0.06 objective, eyepieces with magnifications from 15× to 30× are recommended.

Plan achromatic optics ensure consistent focus at both the center and edges of the image, resulting in negligible distortion. This makes the objective well suited for digital imaging and for use with wide-field eyepieces offering a 22 mm field of view.
