Magus SPH2 Phase Сontrast Device (85152)

The MAGUS SPH2 phase contrast system includes a set of phase contrast sliders, a set of phase contrast objectives, and a centering telescope. This system is designed for the observation of transparent, low-contrast specimens that are difficult or impossible to see using brightfield illumination. Because staining procedures can damage or kill living cells, phase contrast offers a key advantage by allowing the study of living, unstained organisms in their natural state. The technique is widely used in medicine, ecology, pharmacology, agriculture, and related fields.

Phase contrast sliders

The phase contrast slider is installed in the condenser slot. Each slider is a plate with two openings: one open aperture for standard brightfield observation and a second aperture fitted with a phase insert matched to the objective in use. The system includes two sliders. One slider is designed for use with 10x, 20x, and 40x objectives, while the second slider is dedicated to the 100x objective. Each insert is clearly marked to correspond with the appropriate objective. This design allows quick and convenient switching between brightfield and phase contrast observation.

Plan achromatic phase objectives

Phase contrast objectives differ from standard objectives by the presence of a phase ring located in the exit pupil plane. Plan achromatic phase objectives provide uniform focus across the entire field of view, resulting in minimal image distortion. Chromatic aberration is corrected for blue and red wavelengths, spherical aberration is corrected for green, and field curvature is corrected over 90% of the field diameter.

The 10x objective can be used with specimens both with and without a coverslip. The 20x, 40x, and 100x objectives are designed for specimens mounted with a 0.17 mm coverslip. The 100x objective supports oil immersion. All objectives are designed for infinity-corrected optical systems and have a parfocal distance of 60 mm.

Centering telescope

The centering telescope is used to precisely align the annular diaphragms of the phase contrast sliders with the phase rings of the objectives, ensuring optimal phase contrast performance.

Compatibility

This phase contrast system is compatible with the MAGUS Bio 260T biological microscope and the MAGUS Bio DH260 biological digital microscope.
