Levenhuk New Skyline PRO 16" (400/1830) Dobsonian Telescope (86287)

The Levenhuk New Skyline PRO 16" Dobsonian is the most powerful model in its series and a serious instrument for exploring deep space. With a massive 406 mm aperture and a focal length of 1830 mm, it provides outstanding light-gathering capability and resolution, allowing detailed observation of Solar System bodies and distant deep-sky objects. Lunar features such as craters, rilles, and ridges as small as 1–2 km become visible, especially along the terminator. Jupiter’s cloud bands reveal swirls and spots, Saturn’s rings display intricate gaps, and Mars shows maria, polar caps, and dust storms.

Description

The phases of Venus are clearly defined, while Uranus and Neptune appear as distinct discs rather than simple points of light. Under favorable atmospheric conditions, spiral arms and dust lanes in bright galaxies can be observed, along with gaseous structures and dark voids in nebulae, resolved globular clusters, and double or multiple star systems.

High-Performance Optical System

The telescope’s performance is built around primary and secondary mirrors coated with aluminum, achieving 92–95% reflectivity. This high reflectivity enhances brightness and contrast, improving visibility of faint galaxies and nebulae while delivering sharp planetary detail at high magnifications. The coating performs effectively across a broad spectral range, from ultraviolet to infrared.

The parabolic primary mirror eliminates spherical aberration and ensures sharpness across the entire field of view. A dual-speed 2" rack-and-pinion focuser provides precise focusing control, and the included 1.25" adapter allows compatibility with a wide range of eyepieces.

Stable and Durable Dobsonian Mount

The optical tube assembly weighs 36 kg and is mounted on a sturdy wooden Dobsonian base weighing 29 kg. This manually operated mount offers smooth movement, excellent stability, and long-term durability, even during intensive use.

A primary mirror cooling fan is included to help maintain thermal equilibrium and optimize image quality. The fan operates on eight AA batteries (not included).

Included Accessories

The telescope comes ready for observation with two Plössl eyepieces (10 mm and 25 mm, 1.25") and an 8×40 optical finderscope for accurate target location.
