The LS100MT is a complete solar telescope designed for observing the Sun in H-alpha light. It features a 100 mm clear aperture with no central obstruction and a focal length of 714 mm. Observing the Sun at the H-alpha wavelength reveals striking details such as prominences along the solar limb, filaments, flares, and dynamic surface activity. An internal etalon filter with an advanced air pressure tuning system achieves a bandwidth of less than 0.7 angstrom, delivering high-contrast solar views.

Day and Night Versatility

Thanks to its modular design, the solar filter can be removed quickly and easily. With an optional conversion kit, the telescope transforms into a high-quality 3-lens apochromatic refractor suitable for observing and photographing the night sky. The triplet objective lens, made with premium FPL-53 glass, produces sharp, true-color images. Standard 2-inch diagonal mirrors can be used with the high-quality rack-and-pinion focuser included in the conversion kit. This optional kit is required for nighttime astronomical use.

Pressure Tuning System (PT Tuner)

Fine adjustment of the etalon filter is achieved through an air pressure tuning mechanism. By slightly altering the air pressure inside a sealed chamber within the telescope, the refractive index of the air changes. This allows precise and effortless tuning to the H-alpha spectral line. The system ensures a uniform image without central obstruction and promotes long-term durability of the etalon.

B3400 Blocking Filter

The B3400 blocking filter is particularly suitable for solar photography with cameras that use large sensor chips. It can also be used for visual solar observation. Unlike many solar telescopes where the blocking filter is placed within the diagonal, this model integrates the blocking filter directly into the focuser. This configuration makes it especially well-suited for solar imaging applications.

Premium Focuser

In line with the telescope’s high optical quality, it is equipped with a Feather Touch focuser from Starlight Instruments. This premium focuser allows the use of accessories with 2-inch barrels, such as diagonal mirrors or camera adapters. For safe solar observation, the integrated blocking filter within the supplied deflection optics is essential. Accessories can be connected via a 1.25-inch sleeve or through a securely threaded T2 camera connection.
