The TeleVue 40 mm Plössl eyepiece delivers outstanding image quality and ranks among the finest eyepieces in its class. Designed as a versatile all-round eyepiece, it performs exceptionally well for observing planets, the Moon, and deep-sky objects. It consistently provides high contrast, excellent sharpness, and impressive clarity across a wide range of applications. The eyepiece features four fully coated lens elements arranged in two achromatic groups, ensuring high light transmission and minimal image degradation. Blackened lens edges help reduce internal reflections and enhance contrast. Thanks to TeleVue’s optimized optical design, the 40 mm Plössl maintains very good edge sharpness, even when used with fast telescopes. From the 32 mm model downward to shorter focal lengths, the Plössl series is parfocal, allowing convenient eyepiece changes with minimal refocusing. It is also well suited for eyepiece projection applications.

The 40 mm version offers a comfortable 28 mm eye relief, providing a relaxed viewing experience and making it especially suitable for observers who wear glasses. While Plössl eyepieces may appear simple in design, TeleVue’s implementation stands out for its precision and quality.
