The TeleVue 2x Big Barlow is a high-performance amplification lens designed to enhance magnification while preserving optical quality. A properly engineered Barlow not only increases power but also effectively slows the telescope’s focal ratio, which can improve eyepiece sharpness and overall image correction. In addition, it helps compensate for certain eyepiece aberrations, contributing to cleaner and more precise views.

TeleVue Barlows are constructed using high-index, fully multi-coated glass elements to ensure optimal aberration correction, high contrast, and virtually no light loss. Performance remains sharp and aberration-free even in fast optical systems, such as telescopes with an f/4 focal ratio. In many cases, the Big Barlow can also improve the performance of other eyepieces and telescopes.

With a 2x magnification factor, the Big Barlow is especially well suited for Newtonian telescope owners. In this configuration, it remains parfocal with both 2" and 1.25" eyepieces. Features include a 1.25" eyepiece adapter, 48 mm filter threads, a captive locking screw, and full multi-coatings for maximum light transmission.

Please note that the Big Barlow is not recommended for use with 2" diagonals, as its length may prevent parfocal operation and, in some telescopes, may not allow focus to be reached. For a more universally compatible alternative, a 2" 2x Powermate may be considered.
