The TeleVue Starbeam is a premium red-dot projection finder designed for maximum comfort, precision, and flexibility. Its unique flip-mirror mechanism allows viewing from straight-through orientation up to a 90° angle, making it comfortable to use whether the telescope is aimed low or high in the sky. When used straight through, you see the natural sky with a bright 10 arc-minute red “star” (approximately one-third the diameter of the Moon) marking the telescope’s pointing position. When observing at higher elevations, simply flip the mirror into place for a more ergonomic viewing angle, with an image orientation that matches refractor or SCT views.

The red projection point is adjustable in size, color, and brightness, ensuring excellent visibility against twilight or dark skies. With a 39 mm aperture, the projected image remains clearly visible from a wide range of viewing distances, whether your eye is a few inches or several feet behind the unit. A precision glass lens acts as a beamsplitter, combining the natural sky background with the projected red aiming point. The first lens surface functions as a collimating mirror, keeping the red star fixed against the sky regardless of eye position. Its 6 arc-minute accuracy enables precise targeting, even when using high magnification in the main telescope. A compensating curve in the second lens surface ensures a natural sky view and is multi-coated to eliminate ghosting or double images.

Elegantly designed and fully machined from aluminum, the Starbeam features a durable black anodized finish, including its push-pull thumb screws. No tools are required for alignment. This version includes a base for Schmidt-Cassegrain (SC) telescopes, and mounting hardware is included.
