The TeleVue Gibraltar HD5 is a robust alt-azimuth mount designed to support larger 5" telescopes with exceptional stability. It combines the solid Gibraltar HD wooden tripod with a reinforced alt-az head that is wider and heavier than the original Tele-Pod design. The mount head features larger bearings and cradle mounting holes compatible with the TeleVue NP127 baseplate as well as other TeleVue optical tubes.

The wide bearing surfaces and thick wooden tripod legs provide excellent rigidity, making the mount suitable for high-magnification observing. Leg extensions raise the altitude axis to approximately 5 feet, and graduated scales on the extensions allow for repeatable height adjustments. A wooden accessory tray connects the legs for additional stability, while the built-in pier section improves comfort when observing objects at high altitudes. A bubble level is integrated into the tripod base for accurate setup, and metal ground spikes with rubber tips ensure secure positioning on various surfaces.
