This filter is designed to enhance the contrast of deep-sky objects while reducing the brightness of the sky background. It works through a sophisticated transmission profile that allows important emission lines from deep-sky objects to pass through while suppressing common sources of light pollution. It also reduces unwanted sky background caused by atmospheric oxygen emissions, often referred to as "skyglow."

The filter is particularly effective in light-polluted areas and is suitable for both visual observation and astrophotography.

Unlike traditional light pollution filters such as UHC or CLS filters, which significantly attenuate certain wavelengths, this is a multi-bandpass filter. It preserves natural color balance with minimal impact on color rendition. This makes it especially suitable for capturing continuum sources such as galaxies, globular clusters, and reflection nebulae.
