The Shootout is a double-action OTF (out-the-front) automatic knife. This means the blade both deploys and retracts automatically using the same mechanism. The knife can be quickly operated under stress, even with the non-dominant hand. To deploy the blade, simply push the large slider forward. To retract it, pull the slider back.

High-Performance Steel and Versatile Blade Design

The knife has a tactical character, highlighted by its discreet black color scheme. It uses a drop point blade profile known for excellent cutting performance and versatility.

The blade is crafted from CPM-CruWear tool steel produced by Crucible Industries and hardened to 63–65 HRC. This steel offers outstanding wear resistance and strength, often regarded as significantly outperforming traditional D2 steel. Its composition includes vanadium, tungsten, and molybdenum, which enhance durability and allow for high hardness levels.

Because of the steel’s hardness, a diamond sharpener is recommended. Standard ceramic sharpening stones may prove time-consuming and less effective.

The blade is finished with a Black DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating. This layer improves scratch resistance, increases surface hardness, and adds protection against corrosion.
