What is a stage disc?

The Astrial company's stage disc comprises two parts - the primary disc, displaying the central image, and the background disc, setting the stage with elements like trees, mountains, telescopes, etc. During operation of the Homestar planetarium's rotation function, the primary disc rotates while the background disc remains static. It's akin to reclining on a beach amidst palm trees, gazing at the sky: the stars glide overhead while the palm trees stand still.
