Altair Pier Adapter for EQ8 and GM1000 Mounts
The Altair pier adapter is designed to securely attach the EQ8 mount or the GM1000 to your Altair SkyShed Pier (pre-2014 models) or Starbase tripod. It is also suitable for use with self-built piers, thanks to its smooth surface that facilitates easy adjustments.
 
Product Features
  • Material: CNC machined from solid aluminium and anodised for corrosion protection.
  • Bolts Included: Comes with six corrosion-resistant stainless steel bolts.
  • Compatibility: Fits Altair/SkyShed 8” Steel Adjustable Pier or Starbase tripod without requiring drilling.
  • Pier Attachment: Requires six stainless steel M8 nuts (user-supplied) for attachment to the pier.
  • Hole Pattern: Matches the Meade LX200 hole pattern on Altair Piers and can be used on any flat surface with appropriate holes, such as homemade piers.
  • Mounting Holes: Includes six countersunk holes for M8 bolts arranged with a 130 mm PCD, along with additional threaded holes for attaching the EQ8 mount.
  • Aesthetic Design: Anodised aluminium finish complements the clean lines of the laser-cut 8” Altair-SkyShed Pier and the Altair TMS product range.
Note: For newer SkyShed piers, this adapter is not strictly necessary but simplifies mounting and adjustment of the mount.
