For centuries, the far side of the moon remained a mystery to humanity. It wasn't until the Apollo missions that sufficient data became available to craft the first comprehensive moon globes. Since the 1970s, the iconic Columbus globe has graced many classrooms and homes, featuring hollow forms adorned with meticulously hand-covered map images.

In recent years, advancements in moon exploration through probes like LRO, Kaguya, and Clementine have significantly enhanced our understanding of lunar geography. It became evident that the creators of the 1972 moon globe had taken artistic liberties in certain areas. While accurate maps of the moon's visible face were available at the time, peripheral regions, such as around Mare Marginis, Mare Australe, and notably Mare Smythii, were depicted with speculative landscapes.

Leveraging the latest LRO data, Columbus has produced a new, limited series moon globe exclusively for us! It stands as perhaps the world's first meticulously detailed moon globe.

Our moon globes are exclusive, individually numbered pieces, with map images meticulously hand-covered, ensuring superior resolution compared to earlier globes crafted through deep-draw techniques.
